I would rather go to the highest prestigious bowl we could in that given year (win or lose) vs going to the New Orleans against a Sunbelt team and winning. So what if we win the N.O. bowl...no one really cares, I mean sure if we had to go there I would much rather win it...but playing a P5 or any of our old conference foes or anyone else other than a sunbelt team brings more excitement with a chance to win that playing Troy or an Ark State in the New Orleans Bowl.[/align]

The fact that we have fans that still think cusa is any better than the sunbelt and that seemingly elevate the aac and mwc to sec status is much more depressing. But not as depressing as fans that prefer a loss to an aac or mwc team over a bowl victory. THIS is actually rock bottom.

First, nobody said CUSA was better than Sunbelt but OUR program is and YOU should think that way too. I don't want to play a CUSA team or a fu*king Sunbelt team. Memphis fan here who lurks occasionally because I like USM football. Don't know if this is the appropriate thread for it, but lots of support for USM to the AAC on their board in a post by your own TTT. You would be a great addition and deserve to get out of the mess you're in.

Thank you Cotton1991, appreciate the nice words. Memphis is a class act and always has been and I miss our Black and Blue games. I hope we can eventually be an addition to the AAC and be back with you guys eventually.

Honestly, I’d give Memphis & us joining a new conference together better odds than USM joining the AAC. Big 12 implosion is closer than Big 12 expansion.

AGREE!! What kind of USM fan "wants" to play a Sunbelt team in a bowl game over a MW or AAC team? The sheer idiocy astounds me.

What is funny is, that the Cougars “Couged it” again yesterday...Losing to Tulane. Yes, it would be a waste of time...for USM.

I'm not an expert on the Bowl system these days, anyone have real insight as to how the CUSA teams will be placed? Where will the champion go? Runner up? My thought is FAU will beat UNT. I can see UNT in the Heart of Dallas Bowl, but where does FAU land?

I'd love to see Southern Miss in the Independence Bowl if the ACC can't fill all of its spots. Shreveport is not too far and we'd take a good number of fans. It will be interesting to see how it all shakes out this year. Just hoping we will NOT be in another New Orleans Bowl. Even though I live in Covington and its an easy drive for me, we've played that one enough for awhile.

well, looks like none of the pundits are mentioning the NO Bowl right now (which actually could be bad for those of us who say "NO" to the NO Bowl.)...but lots of Memphis and Arizona State chatter...and this coming weekend could have quite an impact.

We all know Marshall struggled this weekend...but they will probably look like the NE Patriots against us on their Senior Day...and it's about time we beat up on someone besides the horrible Rice's, UTEP's and Charlotte's of the world.

The conference doesn't have a designated "champion" bowl. We did away with that when we lost/gave up the Liberty Bowl several years ago.
