So, it is finally here. The week of the suddenly relevant Shula Bowl! FIU wins and retains a chance to represent the East Division in the C-USA Conference Championship Game. FAU wins and clinches that game for themselves.

I'm actually very sad. I've had plans for over a year to take the kids up North on a road trip to visit my parents for Thanksgiving week so will be unable to make the game. Timing just sucks. I made sure to give my ticket to one of my seat neighbors (Happens to be a players parents) as long as they promised to put an Owl fan in it. I'm VERY grateful for @watchstadium as at least i will be able to stream the game while visiting up north. With me it's family before all so cancelling this trip was not an option. I hope everyone has a great time and that the Owls clinch it against the Kitties.

I am with you on that: Family comes first. However, I do have tickets and I am going! I am psyched!

There are many ways to skin a cat and we are going by running around forcing picks.

FIU's record is a fraud they have been outscored 202-228

Biggest Shula Bowl to date ?

Or did the ODU loss dampen the importance of the game ?

It's big because of the names and both teams are improved, but even if we blow this all we have to do is beat UNCC.

Charlotte has played teams pretty tough at home, although you guys are indeed like butter (you're on a roll)

The ODU loss definitely took the wind out of the sails on the FIU side. FIU's chance at winning the east is now quite unlikely. FIU is basically playing for pride at this point in the rivalry game. Nonetheless, I believe this is the best combined recored these two teams have had for any Shula Bowl. Maybe the ODU loss will light a fire under our guys and they will come out playing with a lot of energy (the opposite of last week). Other than the UCF game, FIU has played well against teams with winning records so far.

RE: 2017 Shula Bowl, FIU @ FAU, Saturday, November 18.
FAU plays a defense based on turnovers and the bend-but-don't-break concept, while FIU employs a shut-down defense, which has me worried. It is especially worrisome due to what ODU did against it Saturday night, which will make those guys angry and determined and adjustments will be made. I do hope, though, that our rushing attack will still overwhelm it. We'll see...

The players have to have the attitude of Kiffin. Your goal isn't to win one of two. Your goal is to beat every team. Especially on a rivalry week

This game should be the last week of the year too. Rivalry games should be on that week

Beating FIU should always be important. Don't care about the backup plan. Want to beat them

With lack of fan interest that is a good point on the students being gone. At least it's later in the year now

It's not a lack of fan interest there is only a few schools/games who do well on that weekend.

FAU strikes first, but forgets to pay their light bill. Multiple lights are out on the field as FIU was driving. FAU leads 7-0.

The power failure is very on brand for the conference.

So apparently Thomas Owens had knee surgery during the week. Doesn't sound good for the rest of the season. I heard nothing about this until the broadcast. So FIU loses their best offensive weapon. Ugh.
