RE: Bowl Projection after week 11
If Louisiana gets eligible, we need to send someone else to NOLA. There will be no increased attendance this season. The fanbase has checked out of the Hudspeth tenure.

It will be better for us to not be embarrassed by the attendance. It will be better for the league to give somebody else a trip to NOLA.

Please, send us to B.F.E.

It's for the best.

Officially no, but unofficially yes.

If the Independence Bowl woke up one day and decided "Gee, I'd really love to take Georgia State to play Florida State in a bowl" then they'd get their wish. However if they go to the Sun Belt and say "Hey, you guys, give us Troy or we're not taking one of your teams." Then Troy is getting sent to Shreveport whether anyone else likes it or not.

The reality is the ACC would throw a fit if the Sun Belt was their only choice of opponent, and ESPN, through the magic of horse trading would satisfy the kings, and likely send someone else to Shreveport and leave the Sun Belt with another bowl, probably against a G5 team.

Alternative Reality is there is no way the I Bowl is going to take Georgia State based on zero history of proven attendance, an FCS loss, and zero bowl history. They'd almost certainly go after another SBC school.

Makes sense. Thanks...although playing a big brand school in a bowl would really help the apathy problem among our students. Almost every dude I've known at Georgia State followed college football but just don't really care about G5 teams (it might sound really arrogant but that is the reality of having a school in Atlanta)

You Georgia people are so arrogant. That isn't specific to Atlanta, that's most places in the Southeast, and probably most places except the northwest.
What was arrogant about what he posted?

Apathy for our programs because they are not UGA, UA, AU, LSU, the other UA and in general not a P5 team is every where, not just in the almighty Delta hub that is ATL.

It's interesting both ESPN writers have App going to New Orleans. I can't imagine any scenario where New Orleans chooses us instead of Troy or Arkansas State, and Lafayette still has a chance to get eligible too

The problem with that is amplified though. You are correct. Every SunBelt school has to deal with P5 schools, but in Atlanta, there are so many alumni bases not just UGA & GT...

Atlanta Ole Miss Club
Alabama Alumni in Atlanta
Atlanta Chapter of Tennessee Alumni
Atlanta Auburn Club
Atlanta Gator Club
Atlanta Clemson Club
Atlanta Seminole Club
Ohio State Alumni Club of Atlanta
Miami Alumni Association of Atlanta
Michigan Alumni Club of Atlanta
Atlanta Carolina Club
Atlanta Hokies
Penn State Atlanta
Atlanta Badgers
LSU Atlanta
UCLA - Atlanta
Big Ten Alumni of Atlanta - All the clubs in one place.

I am sure there are dozens more. This is more than just the SEC.

This is the Atlanta Braves Clubhouse Store. Look at all those schools.

It is one thing to have a pest problem. It is another thing to have an infestation.

Of course you have all those in Atlanta, in case you haven't noticed, you are in the biggest metro area in the southeast. That's just more football fans for you guys to get into your building, that is if you could get a home out of conference game to not cancel.

But I really don't want to hear about your poor situation because Atlanta is so big we can't get any fans...05-nono

No way they'd let them move the 8th tv market for Jonesboro Arkansas. Jonesboro Georgia has more people

Was a very truthful statement. The fact that the statement holds true elsewhere does not make less true. Student apathy because of who we play is an issue.

My statement was sarcasm. The idea that Atlanta is to big for GaSt to carve out a market is ridiculous. The fact is your success has been limited, things do seem to be changing in that, and your program wasn't even supposed to be FBS. So y'all started when we did, without the plan. You guys have been playing catchup ever since. I'm not saying you guys haven't done an amazing job of making things something to get attention, the stadium, the winning, you guys are there. Eventually your stepudents may realize you have a team and show up. I hope ours do soon.

No way they'd let them move the 8th tv market for Jonesboro Arkansas. Jonesboro Georgia has more people

Television Market means nothing to bowls, because they don't get money from ESPN based off of rating. What they get their money from is ticket sales. How many tickets will your fan base buy? Will they fill up restaurants and hotels in the city prior to the game...etc

Now, ESPN can lean on a bowl...but ESPN isn't going to lean on a bowl for Georgia State over an Arkansas State or a Troy because ESPN knows that there is zero difference nationally in the eyeballs either team brings to a game. ESPN instead would lean on a bowl to trade around to get a P5 team in the game. If there's so few teams left that the only choice is a Sun Belt, then ESPN probably stays out and leaves the bowl to what they want.

I know you guys aren't used to this because you have little bowl experience, but trust me, the only thing matters to a bowl is how many people will show up if your team is playing there.

Also, for the record, Jonesboro Arkansas has 16 times as many people as Jonesboro, GA does. If you are going to talk smack, don't be foolish.

Bowl Projection after week 11

The only hope is that GT/UGA is at 8PM. Still a 2PM G5 game the Saturday after Thanksgiving is attendance suicide.

Now we know David St's day job.

If UGA beats UK, I'm thinking 8 PM will be a lock. We should request to be away that weekend, always.
