Not really. It was kind of meant as a little dig at Clarity who anointed Joiner as the likely WAC ROY after his tremendous performance against a DIII team. Against Georgia Southern he did not look too good and Clarity was a bit silent on the subject.

You're right dude Joiner is trash. One bad game, pssh he sucks. A true freshman having a bad game on the road against a really good team. Yeah that never happens. You were a bit silent after Benson had quite an awful game against Florida A&M who is a horrible team. Probably should chill on the smack until you play a real team.

And so it begins...
In my defense I did not say that Joiner was trash, I was just implying it is a bit pre-mature to make any type of WAC ROY assumptions when a team is playing a DIII school. GCU's two freshmen big men (Lever and Blumbergs) also had great games in GCU's opening against Saint Francis and then have not done much since. Time will tell.

Freshmen are typically inconsistent with their production. There will be games when they explode and games when they lay an egg. Although CSUB was hard pressed to be competitive with Arizona, Jarkel Joiner was probably the Runners' best player on the court tonight (14 point, 5 rebounds, 2 assists). At this point in the season, I don't see a better freshman in the WAC than him. Joiner currently leads the Roadrunners in scoring at 13.0 ppg.

RE: CSUB vs Georgia Southern Game thread
Arizona is the best team in the country in my opinion. They shoot the lights out. CSUB fought hard for a while, a solid effort. Came out fighting instead of Southern where they were just lost. Sunday I think will tell us more, Lamar is a good team they beat Tulsa opening day. Joiner is the real deal yes, it's really easy to see. He's got that silky smooth mid-range jumper. The announcers were very complementary of him. Shooting 50% and 14 points at Zona with 5 boards in a game that wasn't close is no small feat. He is just going to get better and better.

UMKC will now get its chance against the Georgia Southern after winning in its first round of the Gulf Coast Showcase vs Manhattan.

Kind of disappointed wish we would have played Missouri St.

Tanveer Bhullar is on Missouri St. That would have been a fun game to watch.

UMKC gave GASO a better game only losing 78-75.

Clairty, This is where you are suppose to respond and say that there is no way UMKC will ever finish in top 5 in WAC again.

I'm going to laugh so hard if we finish in the top 5 this year and laugh even more if we finish above CSUB.

Sucks bc I always root for CSUB (like all wac teams) and Runnerball.

On the game we actually led most of the second half but the youth and inexperience gave it up in last 4 minutes.

You lost to Wichita State by 60 and you also still lost this game if you didn't know. There's no such thing as a moral victory. I suspect you won't have much to say when UMKC is swept by CSUB, GCU, NMSU and UVU. Enjoy your moral victory though. I'll enjoy a great road win over Lamar who beat Tulsa and are going to contend for the Southland. Imagine coming to talk smack after you LOST a game. Amazing stuff.

RE: CSUB vs Georgia Southern Game thread
Rebuilding year, but the team plays defense and might get you at the Muni this year. Doubt we'll beat GCU or NMSU. UVU games always close but they have a nice team this year.

I've told you the pattern and it will play out. Slightly worried about UTRGV, they look good. UMKC has a nice home field advantage because of travel.

I'm just talking about the absurdity of your absolutes. Hell I think Chicago st will finish top 4 in WAC at some point if they stay in it.

I'll leave you to your crack-fueled delusions. Good luck in Division 2 next year.

Even though some of us do not hold stock in moral victories (unless it is our team of course 04-rock), this result seems to bode well for UMKC. A 3-point loss compared to a 24-point loss by CSUB is quite the difference. Of course, CSUB was playing them on their home court and had to travel so that likely had a lot to do with their poor play. Hopefully, CSUB gets revenge on 12/16.

Penn 68-UMKC 65. UMKC were 10.5 point favorites for some reason. I have no comment on these proceedings.
