We can't drop any of these first games if it's true, maybe 2-3 wins in conference but that's it. Going to be a very long year.

At least some guys were driving to the basket in sec half.

Deer in headlights look still there for most of the players.
Guess the Ala guys spooked them

Martin came alive in sec half. Wonder if got some of Tubby's stuff in the locker room.

Actually, we shot the three well (44.4%), but we were out rebounded and allowed 44.2% FG conversion. We are not a good defensive team, presently.

they are 2-1 with a close loss to Kansas.

We lost to a team without their 3 best players and had to scratch and claw against a team ranked in the 300's.

I don't think people understand how bad that team is. They lost all 5 starters, lost to a D2 team at home in their first game, and are predicted to finish last in the Sun Belt conference.

Yeah, but those are preseason predictions. You CAN'T possibly have an idea how a team will be based only on recruiting rankings without seeing the guys on the court.

I know it's early in the season and a small sample size but there are only three teams in the AAC ranked BELOW us in KenPom

I was wondering how many were ranked below us.

What's interesting is, even the ones ranked below are gonna set their sites on us like we're their doable super bowl. lol.

Battle of the cupcakes!

smh I can't believe this sometimes.

I think you missed my point. Last year (regardless of who the opponent was) when the Tigers fell behind they pouted and gave up. I didn't see that last night, which was refreshing. Who the opponent was and where the opponent is projected to finish in their conference doesn't mean much to me right now.

Off the top of my head, we did not give up after falling behind our last game against Tulane and there may have been other similar games. However, I agree that Tubby lost the team last year and it resulted in season ending defeats by at or near historic margins. It remains to be seen if Tubby will inspire the team to maintain effort during the course of a likely dismal season. The past season does not lend comfort that he can do it.

Like vs. Temple when Memphis was down 46-28 vs. Temple w/16:50 to go and got it within 3 at 57-54 w/ 6 minutes to go? Oh yeah, with Dedric the cancer scoring 13 of the 26 points.

Or when Memphis was down 46-22 at #15 Cinci and didn't quit and pulled within six points at 5:20 to go.

Or down 43-38 to Tulane with 18 minutes to go in the game and outscore Tulane 54-27.

Or down 11 to OU with 14 mins to go and outscore OU 37-26 the rest of regulation and then 17-10 on OT.

Or down 10-0 to start the game vs. UCF only to erase that quickly and win.

Or down 52-40 AT Ole Miss in the 2nd half and go on a 22-5 run to take the lead.

And there were others.

But sure, other than that, Memphis folded every time they fell behind.

Well these guys know the drill. It's all or nothing now. They have few dreams delusions or aspirations of going on to a BB pro career.

Lol! Please...do tell...how are we going to not shoot 3s for the next few games given there is a 100% chance we will see zone defense every time we play? We don’t have great shooters, but we did shoot over 40% from 3 last night and will have to make some going forward if we want to be effective against the zone.

I think Davenport could be a shooter. Jamal's form, as some who look more carefully have pointed out to me, is a little iffy.

We are now KEN POM

138! @1-1, 16 spots behind Elon and 30 spots behind Missouri State

Little Rock at 282

Our next 11 then conference starts
277 New Orleans (W)
115 Northern Kentucky (L)
118 UAB (L)
100 Mercer (L)
139 Samford (W?)
320 Bryant (W)
105 Albany (L)
20 Louisville (L)
280 Siena (W)
240 Loyola Md (W)
LSU (L)

We'll most likely be
6-7 heading into conference play, give or take a game or 2, so 4-9 at worst 8-5 at best

Oh, and the only AAC teams ranked below us are
169 Navy
173 ECU
178 Tulane
270 South Florida

So, add that in plus a couple of upsets going our way
14-17 is about the best we can do

Of course we will have 20 wins. Any coach worth having could get 20 wins with this schedule. Tubby is a great coach, he will get 20 wins.
