AND it was on the road. Feeling pretty good about this win. They blew us out twice last year and they were on the verge of being a tournament team as well.

It was great although I could see TAMUCC being a bit upset that he got 23 free throw attempts.

The new guys look very promising, and Moe is way more active than he used to be.

Congrats, Vs! Didn't catch the game of score. Is Coach Hill getting buy-in on defensive end from players?

Over the first three games we allowed an average of 85 points per game.

Yea i'm really impressed with Levi. I thought he was gonna be riding the bench most of the season, but I can see why he's starting. He plays the best defense of anyone on the team. With Bowie is looks like the more games he plays the more confident he'll get. I expect a breakout game soon.

I think the players have bought in on the defense since the beginning but they were very lost last year. They look a lot more comfortable so far. Fouling is still a problem. From what I've seen a lot of them are dumb fouls.

That's awesome! I know these two schools have been promoting the rivalry, and I also know as a GCU fan how great it was to finally knock off NMSU. There's no feeling quite like finally beating a rival who has always had your number.

Great game against North Texas. Seems like UTRGV is making some major strides in the positive direction.

Yes finally. Kinda sucks 5 of the next 9 are guarantee games but the other games should be telling.
I'm liking the defense so far. If you take out the first game then the rest go 74,75,75,63 points allowed. I will gladly take that.

Lopes dropped one to USD. ESPN had us a 88% prediction to win. At least this isn’t football and one bad loss isn’t going to break a season. You guys will have a much improved season this year.

San Diego is probably bad but Grambling is Kenpom 340 and were bottom 8 before the win. No excuses for that on your home court. I see the same exact team that they’ve been. A team that can score but can’t play any defense to save their lives. No offense to Vaquero fans.

I wasn't able to see this one and I really don't want to go back and watch it. We actually have the opposite problem this year. The defense isn't great. Just good enough. The offense though sucks this year. Losing green has been worse than I thought. We can't shoot to save our lives. We also might be one of the worse fouling teams in the country.

Grambling got a bit of help from GT- two Yellow Jacket players tipped the winning points into their own basket battling for a rebound.

I was following the play-by-play and saw was confused as how Grambling State won when they never credited any points. I then turned on ESPN3 to watch the replay of the end of the game, and couldn’t believe it!

Side note— nice road win yesterday by the Vaqueros!

I agree with Josh, great win over Rice for the Vaqueros! And Grambling's victory over GT shows Grambling might not be as bad as once thought. Besides Grambling's current KenPom rating of 328 is still better than Northern Arizona's rating of 336, which beat CSUB in Bakersfield. Every team has an off day here and there. This is why we play these OOC games.
