Yep, it's stupid
Should have either added teams or left it at a round robin
It hurts when you win conference play outright but now you have to win one more game. It doesn't hurt when 2-3 schools have one conference loss each and you need another data point to separate.
Exactly. The B12's problem is that they still only have 10 teams and play the round-robin conference schedule. Let's say the B12 had added two, split into divisions and played only 8 conference games (ideal scenario for maximizing the value of the CCG). The CCG would likely still be Oklahoma v. TCU, but both teams would be 9-1 right now and ranked in the top-8.
The Big 12 should add two right now:
UCF: obviously look the best now, but the directional name kills them. The start up program kills them with the country club boys.
USF: obviously looks good now but see UCF. And they are only 1 of 3 schools in college football that doesn’t have a football stadium. The country club boys really hate that.
Memphis: has everything going for it except 1 thing. That one thing didn’t hurt Louisville getting into the ACC though...anything is possible with Louisville getting into the ACC I guess....That one thing is one word and it starts with an A.
Colorado St: looks like a cartel school in every single way. Average athletics right now. They’d be my top pick if I was Big 12 commish.
Cincinnati: they’d be my #12 after Colorado St if I was Big 12 commish as they look like a cartel school in every way.
Tulane: no athletic success. Otherwise an obvious pick
Rice: no athletic success whatsoever. Otherwise an obvious pick.
Uconn: looks like a cartel school in every way except they are an FBS newbie and in New England. A conference stretching from Texas to New England looks ridiculous.
No one else would be considered. Add Cincinnati and Colorado St to the Big 12 and be done with it.
