North Texas die hards are about 14,000 strong. They (me) are dumb enough to show up no matter what.

Above that is a people who are just checking out the game if you give them a reason. Last two home games have been good because DFW people love front runners and we have a good record. We'll bring a ton of people to close bowl games because of the same front running reasons.

If you think about it 14,000 isn't a bad number when you look at the fact the administration decided to go down to 1aa, and how poor we've performed most years since our return
to the top division.

Consistent winning will scrape some of those people into the die hard status every year we win. North Texas is enormous. We award 9,000+ degrees a year and we have 250,000+ alumni in the area. If we can keep winning for a good long run we can build a very strong program to back any future coaching staff.

RE: Does anyone actually know the bowl selection process for CUSA???
From the projections thread I started it feels like all the guessers have either UNT or FAU going to New Mexico bowl. Personally I say minimal to no chance either go there from the simple fact that bowl game is on “opening day” of bowl season which is 2 weeks after the CG. One of the pluses coaches like about bowl season is the 15 or so “extra” practices. With the NM bowl being 2 weeks afterwards along with most schools having finals exams the first or second week of December this only gives those two teams 5-7 practices tops.

Some were there in shorts. They didn't realize the weather would be cold.

The point is we did have a good crowd for the game. Yes, it would have been nice if more of them would have stayed, but at least they came. Many programs in C-USA wish they could draw 26,000+ for a game.

SO I used this thing called the googles, and the only thing listed on C-USA site is that teams with winning records (7+) get first choice over other teams (6 wins).

Sounds good. I'd be pissed if 6-6 LT got the Indy Bowl vs a P5 school over 7-5/8-4 USM all because they are closer. I think USM would probably bring 10k min. to the Indy Bowl. Per the link,

"NOTE: Per conference regulations, all teams with seven or more wins shall be placed into conference bowls prior to any other bowl eligible teams without a winning record (i.e. 6-6 record)."

That only means if team A has 7 wins and team B has 6 and there's only one bowl spot open.....

the 7 win team will be placed before the 6 win team

Last year 9 win ODU was sent to the Bahamas while 5 win UNT to Dallas...I don't believe that was by choice from ODU a team tied for the east title and UNT 4th place in the west

But that doesn't necessarily mean a "better" bowl game...........

As long as the 7-5 team is in any bowl...........

North Texas got to play close to home at 5-7 last year. MT went to Hawaii

IMO....if FAU wins the CG and then FSU is selected in the Indy bowl I see FAU choosing that bowl game unless that isn’t an option because CUSA contracted games have to be filled first.

I completely made it up because this is a message board.

There's no specific C-USA rule addressing how 6-5 teams will be handled.
