RE: Haynes fired by Kent State
Average computer rating

AAC 66.7
MWC 83.76
MAC 84.74
CUSA 92.24
SBC 101.66

It doesn't look like the MAC can help itself too much by expanding.

Miami and OU need to step it up more in the MAC East. Miami has a new FB building and OU has a new one under construction. They have the campuses to recruit nationally. Both have average G5 staffs at the present.

The AAC is at the top now but its future looks like its going to be a basketball focused conference that plays FBS football.

MWC could lose a solid program in Colorado St. to the B12 to be replaced by UTEP. They might go to 14 in that case with Rice and UTSA. They are trending toward becoming CUSA of the west.

CUSA/SBC will have to rebuild again, with even more FCS call ups in a shrinking pool of quality FCS call ups. To think EKU may get a call up to the SBC shows the desperation.

His record in November games isn't very good. We are 1-2 this year in November.

Toledo fans feel the same about November letdowns.

November is the Gauntlet of MAC power teams facing each other. It is no surprise that Ohio and Toledo MAC coach looses a few games we would all like to get back. look at the November match-up from this year alone:

Week 10
CMU vs WMU
Miami Vs Ohio
NIU vs Toledo

Week 11
Akron Vs Miami
Toledo vs Ohio

Week 12
Ohio vs Akron
WMU vs NIU
Toledo vs BG

Week 13
WMU vs Toledo
NIU VS CMU
Ohio Vs Buffalo

Toledo and Ohio both played teams in the top 4 in their division or the other division 3 of the 4 weeks. The off week was a rivalry game. Miami's rivalry game was also top 4 this season. It seems like it is that way each year. It may not be a coincidence with MACtion.

At least your coach isn't going anywhere soon. I hope ours isn't.

Rocket - I think Jason Candle is leaving soon. Do not know this month or in 12 months. UT has had quite a run on coaches, even the weakest one was hired away.

That's the hot rumor right now and it has the appearance of legitimacy. Also, would be real kick in the teeth to the MAC.

Kent really needs a fundamental old school player development coach. Not gonna win there through outrecruiting your competition. Need someone with a long term plan and approach who will develop real quarterbacks

Pretty unlikely they'll go this route, but it'd be interesting to see them try out the triple option or something like that. Who's the last MAC team to commit to that kinda offensive philosophy? (Miami in 2013 doesn't count)

Now you're talking ~ hire a Wing-T coach at a discount and put the savings into the defensive coordinator.

What the hell Kent State?

Quote:Athletic director Joel Nielsen focused the search on successful FCS, Division II & III head coaches, speaking with dozens and meeting with quite a few. One source told FootballScoop, “Whether technically offered or not, at least 15 coaches have turned this one down.”

Throughout this search, sources told FootballScoop that Ed Warinner has remained the one Power 5 assistant that has shown true interest. We’re told the veteran Power 5 assistant and current Minnesota run game coordinator has the support of Nick Saban, Urban Meyer and P.J. Fleck for the job. And yet, somehow, Warinner has not been offered the job.

And now they're looking at Kansas QB Coach Garrett Riley, younger brother of the Oklahoma head coach, who graduated college in 2012. 04-jawdrop

I guess being so young Riley can coach at Kent for 3 years and use it as leverage for a coordinator job at a P5 school.

Might work for him.

Yeah, good luck with that Kent read, Kent write, Kent State. Pathetic.

Kick them out of the MAC and bring in a new member. The MAC needs new life. James Madison comes to mind. North Dakota St., but that's a stretch. Are there any others that could replace Kent and even possibly EMU (sorry but those attendance issues don't seem to be improving at all)?

Not sure if there's been a team since, but Ohio ran the triple option back in the late 90s. As a side note, They mentioned during the Army Navy game that Army tied the record for consecutive games without a completed pass. They tied the 1997 Ohio Bobcats. That team ended 8-3 (6-2) averaging just under 300 rushing yards per game (vs. 411 total passing yards on 16 completions in 65 attempts for the season.)

You guys seem to put a lot of stock in a what is basically a football gossip site. Look back through that article and see how many actually verifiable facts are there. (Hint: almost none). It’s mostly air. I realize that’s what happens when there is no information, but seriously...

And the top basketball program and overall athletic program in the MAC over the last 20 years is not going anywhere, so relax.

Kent is an anchor around the MAC. Show some commitment or get out. Go join the MVC for basketball but get out of the MAC, Kent shows no commitment to football at all. Completely pathetic. Have some pride.
