As much as I detest the other programs in this state, I hope we look like that in the next two years.

We pay a price for it:

"I think it's very uncommon in the First World. This is not a sight that one normally sees. I'd have to say that I haven't seen this," Philip Alston, the UN's Special Rapporteur on extreme poverty and human rights, said as he toured a Butler County community where raw sewage flows from homes through exposed PVC pipes and into open trenches and pits.

We also lead the nation in cases of hookworm and deaths from infant mortality. And Roy Moore. Yee haw fer bammer!

Why would we take this moment right now?

Alabama has been well-known since forever as a hotbed of football, with Alabama and Auburn being two of the top 15 or so biggest brand blue bloods.

Nothing to see here, just business as usual. Might as well have mentioned the attendance at this year's Magic City Classic. 07-coffee3

Well, the second tier programs aren't often in lockstep.

There's deadbeats in every state who don't know how to take care of themselves. At least in Alabama, those people have homes.

In California and New York City, Democratic land-use & housing policies have pushed those people into homelessness. San Diego currently has a Hepatitis A outbreak among the homeless that's killed dozens of people (the mortality rate for Hep A is usually 2 in 10,000 cases). Hep A is easily prevented with modern plumbing and hand washing, and outbreaks have been close to eliminated in most 1st world countries over the past couple decades. Sadly, lawmakers have used the outbreak as an excuse to outlaw giving food to the homeless.

This extreme homelessness is not a big-city problem, it's a housing policy problem. Just ask Chicago, Atlanta, Houston, and Dallas - which have homelessness rates 80-90% lower than NYC and CA.

That population figure is meaningless, they're crazy about football in Alabama, of course they should have a whole bunch of good teams.

The UAB record is most impressive.. Maybe they should drop football every few years as a device to get a good team again.

Where are USA, Jacksonville St and TUNA?

That's a little subjective.....California has a massive population, borders another country, and an ocean.

There's always an exception to the rule.
