Why is FAU playing Akron not Toledo.

Maybe a Toledo fan can speculate.

FAU vs Toledo would have been a huge matchup
especially with Toledo OC brian wright being the former
OC and former interim coach of FAU.

I think some of us are wondering as well. I was in Boca a few years back for our game against Temple and had a fantastic time. It would make for a very exciting match-up.

Didn't the Mobile bowl have 1st choice on MAC teams and chose the MAC champ. Right?

I'm pretty sure this was the case. Same reason why CMU got sent to the Potato Bowl. Priority with the selections

Yes. I'm just wondering why in the world the MAC has it set up where our conference champion plays the Sun Belt champion. Can't we at least shoot for an American team? MWC would be better. CUSA, ehh it would be cool to have a chance to play Marshall again. But why the Sun Belt?

Part of the deal to get the annual commitments from the bowls was to agree that the MAC would rotate sending its champ to a different bowl each year.

We should start beating the Sun Belt down there before we start calling for other conferences

Yep. Outside of Toledo handling stAte... BG, Toledo, OU, and Ball State havent figured out other belt teams.

SBC was important for the MAC to sign when it didn't have better bowl options.

I would argue like you are doing that our interest is better served playing Marshall, ODU, FAU, FIU in a bowl game than playing Troy, AState, AppSt in bowls. More fan interest and recruiting value.

MAC also has talked a lot about having a footprint bowl again. One idea I've had is a Rock-n-Roll Bowl in Cleveland vs. Army/UMass if bowl eligible. Easy win on home turf for the MAC.

Secondly, I'm watching what is happening with the Holiday Bowl. The new venue in San Diego and 35,000 seats....looks more like a G5 bowl in this incarnation. Couuld the MAC pit its champ against the MWC champion?

1) Holiday Bowl (vs. MWC)
2) Bahamas Bowl (vs. CUSA)
3) Boca Raton (vs. CUSA)
4) Boise Bowl (vs. MWC)
5) Rock-n-Roll Bowl (vs. Army/UMass)

By doing the MWC a favor playing them in Boise, the MWC does the MAC a favor by going champ vs. champ with them in the Holiday.

This would at least get us out of playing Troy, Ark St, App St all of the time in no win situation.

I was upset when they didn’t give Coach Wright the head coaching job. I understand them bringing in Patridge for recruiting but those were some dark years.

The only people telling you anything are the voices in your head....

No one in their right mind is going to pay money to watch a bowl game featuring the MAC and a god awful UMASS team in December, in Cleveland Ohio.

Join the club. For a short time coach wright had something special.

If Brian Wright had gotten a bowl game that year he would probably still be at FAU as head coach.
