CUSA replaced UCF with FAU & FIU, Houston & SMU with N Texas & UTSA, Memphis & Cinn with MTSU & WKU. Regardless the size of market anyone with half a brain knows that wasn't an equitable exchange.

If a new conference could be created, here is what I would like to see

The CUSA Texas 4 leave along with La Tech and USM to start a new Texas centric conference. They add Texas St, NMSU, and Ark St to get to 9

The now 8 CUSA schools add JMU to get back to 9

The now 8 Sunbelt schools add Eastern Kentucky to get back to 9.

New Texas Conference - NSMU, UTEP, UTSA, Texas St, N Texas, Rice, Ark St, La Tech, USM
NEW CUSA - Marshall, ODU, JMU, Charlotte, WKU, MTSU, UAB, FIU, FAU
New Sunbelt - E Kentucky, App St, Coastal, Ga So, Ga St, Troy, USA, ULM, ULL

Short term Expand to 16 with Georgia state and Arkansas state than break off into 2 divisions of 8 with not much cross over play. Long term, encourage UTEP and UTSa to join the mwc to be replaced by Texas state and Missouri state. Eventually, you probably want to have each side split and create their own league though

C-USA should disband and all schools should drop to FCS where they rightfully should be. FBS would be so much better with 6 conferences and that’s it.

I could see why C-USA might encourage UTEP to leave (not that the MWC would actually take them), but why encourage UTSA to leave only to replace them with Texas State?

Texas State is 45 Miles from UTSA - how does that help?

Its remarkably cheap travel. If TV money is non existent, then cutting costs is the only option.
