Up 20-18 with over 8 minutes left in the 1st. Some good shooting from the perimeter so far. Pusica, Green, and Brace with 2 fouls each.

Some good defense, a few steals recently.

Would like to see our guards drive to the basket more.

RE: Vermont
6 minutes remain in the 1st half. I've never seen anything like the last 3 minutes of the game. We must have 6 or 7 steals in that time leading to a lot of points. Occeus is really taking control of this game. Begley and Gresham also looking good.

Up by 11. 31-20

36-32 NU at half. Vermont played tough defense the last 6 minutes. NU with 0 field goals during that time. Not a lot of creativity.

Overall we had a great stretch mid way through the half. Up 36-32 is good, let's build on it.

Able to hold on to a 69-65 win. Wasn't pretty down the stretch, but mentally we hung tough.

Credit to Coen for his use of subs over the last 3 minutes. Recognized Green has a liability on offense when in the bonus (free throws) and was able to effectively use timeouts and stoppages to get Miller in on offense and Green in on defense most of the time.

Solid defensive game overall. Not much you can do when a player like Lamb decides to take over.

Well, I guess an ugly win is still a win. I love this group of guards. Thank god for all those steals. I just wish we had an inside scoring threat like Lamb.

RE: Vermont
I didn’t see the game, just the highlights, but a win is a win, ugly or not.

We weren’t going to blow out everyone at Matthews.

In time Murphy will be a better version of Lamb, but not now.

I thought Max could hang with Lamb defensively, but I guess not.

Now we have to get a win on the road against another NCAA tourney team from last year Kent State — who we beat in Boston.

Highlights...

Wiz, I know you said that you didn't watch the game. Max didn't guard Lamb. All those points and fouls were on Green, Jeremy and Murphy. I kept wondering why they didn't try putting Max on him because Lamb would go out to the three point line...Green would follow him out there....and Lamb would blow past him and when he posted up Lamb was allowed whatever spot on the floor he wanted.
