Of course he would say "I" a lot in a 28 minute segment considering he was speaking.

Try not saying "I" next time you are giving your thoughts about something.

Spin that take if you choose. I've done radio and written. When you are making a case for or against something, the trick is to take yourself out of the picture. It's difficult. But it's good journalism. Else it's just fluff in an opinion piece.

Many people could easily take the basic thoughts that GP's speech was based upon, and present them without a single "I". Seth Davis originally did just that - well he had a few.

When you read the transcript, it's tough NOT to notice all the "I"s in the piece. When you document it, you easily see that his sermon was not about Seth or Pastner or even Tubby. It was about GP.

Alrighty, you should give us a little flavor of your prose and some of your radio work. I'm sure some folks here would love to hear from the master.

Baiting the ego? Wrong dude. I'm not the master. What I'm talking about is pretty basic stuff.

All I did on the radio was call high school sports for about 7 years. Nothing major, but I did get the privilege to call two state championship games. Learned a lot though. After a while, it's not difficult to take yourself out of broadcasts and interviews - if you want to do so.

As for writing, I appreciate my anonymity here too much - although you do get to enjoy my prose on an almost daily basis.

It is the growl that gets me every time. I assume he was trying really hard to stop saying uh, but instead it has turned into an errrrrr.

" I was talking to a local basketball coach, errrrrrrr, and he told me, errrrrr."

Have you bothered to read the transcript yet or are you still just running your mouth?

Read the whole thing.

Interesting.....

I didn't think it was interesting at all. Different strokes I guess.

Interesting.

You mention the Matt Stanley deal. I’m not sure if he was offered, but my guess is that he was. Regardless, the kid totally backed off once he became torched publicly. Commercial appeal article, talk radio. Why would he come here after that? Add that to the fact that Memphis most likely pulled their offer.

Last I checked, dude was busting a trey. Hitting 50% for OBU.

I think he’s their top scorer.. Dude might have been a decent player...

I'm assuming this is sarcasm.

There are a lot of kids busting treys at that level. Doubt he would even get a shot off at D-1 level.

Uh oh. Appearance smack.

Let's see Tig "Brad Pitt" X.

Guarantee GP doesn't give a flip about you, Saluki.

Not completely true.

GP has mentioned him on his show.

However, I have been mentioned on GP's show a LOT more than saluki.

If anybody is counting.

Noted. And think GP mentioning Saluki was more in the crazed message board vain, right? As much as GP slams us idiots on the Tiger boards, not sure why Saluki feels the need to constantly defend him.

And that was Easterwood mentioning you, right?

I defend GP too.

And I was effectively banned from calling into his radio show for aggressively criticizing him on air years ago.

Interesting read.

It has been fun to watch certain members of this place change their tunes in regards to the basketball program.

As for GP, I have been pretty consistent when it comes to not only GP but any of the other media folks some of you spend time trashing. They all get paid to do what you sit around all day and do for nothing and they do it better (thus the paycheck).

The personal attacks about the way they speak or how they look are childish and should not be allowed in this forum in my opinion. Hard to get people to stop that kind of thing though when the leadership is also engaging in it. I have never lost sleep over what you guys say about GP and I doubt he has either.

Carry on.

We don’t lose sleep over either what GP thinks of anyone that doesn’t agree with his political beliefs (we stop listening to him) nor do we lose sleep over what you think of us thinking about GP. This is message board fodder and the fact that you took time to defend your beloved GP let’s us know this GP criticism bothers you for whatever reason.

Acerbic hosts like GP these days eventually get in trouble because they write or say something deemed offensive. GP is easily baited and manipulated so it is only a matter of time, IMO.

Meanwhile, I continue my vain search for an informative, respectful, and entertaining sports talk show in Memphis. I think it will clean up in the ratings, at least among the demographics desirable to advertisers.
