Of course, how much of that money would they have earned with a lesser coach. And who is actually losing that NCAA money? I've read speculation that since UL left the AAC, its UConn, USF and Cincinnati who actually get penalized.

I don't think that argument goes anywhere. You could also say they "could" have earned more with a different coach. The university is contending that, if he had done his job, they would not have to give any money back.

The NCAAT money was paid to Louisville through the conference. The NCAA doesn't care how or if Louisville shares it. Louisville must pay it back. Uconn, et. al. may lose some future payments but they won't have to give any money back.
