Sad, isn't it? A bowl game is supposed to be exciting to the participants and the fans attending, not depressing.
Lack of leadership in the city, urban blight, and spending money the city doesn't really have to cater to special interests...pretty much sums up Shreveport. I remember when it used to be a nice, safe, southern city. Those days are LONG gone.
Its a crying shame there is no baseball in Shreveport LA. There had been a team there dating back to the 1800s. Shreveport dropped the ball in the early 2000s and let our team up and haul tail to Texas. Its been tumbleweeds ever since.
Yep. The old Shreveport Captains became the Frisco Roughriders in the early 2000's and still are today. I'm sure the ownership of that franchise has no regrets about making that move.

The City of Shreveport were so incompetent they never knew that they had left. If Bossier had been smart, which they weren't they would have offered a new stadium east of the River. Instead like most everything good in LA, they went west to Texas.

Just like everyone else, Tech is skipping over Shreveport and making Frisco its second home.
Fighting over Shreveport and Independence Stadium is like fighting over the scraps at a crawfish boil.

Last I heard it was infested with bats and would cost too much to fix or tear down.

Closer to Airport (don't have to drive an hour from Shreveport or 30 minutes from Monroe).
Larger hotels with conference rooms (I know Ruston is improving).
Recruiting.
The stadium has nothing to do with it (unless our Visiting locker rooms are crap).
