Lane Kiffin for a Decade
Means nothing for us other than we will likely not be the next school to move up. Good for FAU though. They are making the investment to give themselves the opportunity to be the next TCU/Boise State. Even if Kiffen leaves, his salary is now earmarked in the budget long-term and he can be replaced with another brand name.

Kiffen still can't cut it against the Sabans and Urban Myers of football, but he'll continue to run circles around the Bobby Wilders. He'd be a fool to leave, though I'm sure his ego and the stars in his eyes will force him to. This isn't an indictment of Wilder, but there is a reason the job title can pay anywhere between about $200k and $10M. Wilder, like Jeff Jones, is probably a good value for the price.

What a strange world, FAU, FIU and GaSt all go bowling and are sitting at home. Who would thought that would happen.

It's all about the Coach.

Moreso in football than in basketball. In football you have 80+ scholarship egos (not to mention all the other coaches) to lead and get on the same sheet of music. In basketball you can make a much greater impact if you can just get a few of your best players to follow you. Not to diminish the leadership skills needed to be a great basketball coach, but to point out that due to the sheer numbers, individuals and Xs and Os have a greater impact in basketball than in football.

Imagine a bunch of teams way more established than us going to a bowl game.

GaSt started the year after us in 2010 and has made three bowl appearances.

FAU has been playing football since 2001.

FIU since 2002

My point was things have turn the corner for some programs that many fans here laugh at.

A little different than having 1 full FBS recruiting class, no? which happened to go 26-23 in first cycle. How many teams can say that?

So your expectation of the coaching staff is to do something better than a level that only 1 program you can think of has previously achieved? No one has said this season was a success; there will be peaks and valleys.

Well, there is Marshall, who went 43 - 9 (1997 - 2000) in it's first FBS cycle, winning the MAC all four of those years.
The Herd also finished 10th (AP) in 1999 during that period.

Let me ask you this honest question. Are you ******* dumb or what? or did you get high on Bobby's sweet talk cool aid? Show me one win you are proud of over the last 4 years or a good win over a team that finished with a winning record. Don't tell me that win over LT at home where we squeaked by a FG. That **** is as old as your ******* excuses for Bobby's Chumps.

Here's my expectations...

1. Recruit better.
2. Find a way to get a couple of stops against the higher level CUSA teams.
3. Be more prepared for the departure of you starting qb's.

I don't think that is asking too much.

Come on Giles. I'm normally with you, but are you happy with what our coaching staff has done? Are you happy with the direction we are headed? ODU isn't committed to football, if we were we would pay more for a coach.

No. That earmark statement you made just isn't true when most of the money is from the athletic foundation, they could pay their next coach 100k if they wanted to.

Yep. That's exactly how far we have adjusted our expectations and thanks to fans that won't take their dumb colored glasses these coaches think they are doing a fine job and has no reason to be alarmed. In my book Booby is a sheep with lion coat that preaches ideals on all fronts and won't be afraid to throw one of his assistants under bus to save his face. I can't wait for the day the Administration recognizes that and boots him and his crew off the porch. He was good for starting a FB program but not for achieving success or even sustaining it at any level and that's it.
