RE: Signing Day
FWIW, everyone in UK's class signed today as well except for Xavier Peters so that backs up what Marcus said about chances of him heading to JUCO.
Nobody is going to burn one of those 25 signings a year until the clearinghouse blesses them.
FWIW II I still have not seen Nick Lewis on Washington State's feed as sending in a LOI yet. So either he is still deciding or he might have similar issues.

Bearcats class now has 3 of the top 20 players in Ohio and 7 of the top 50
Only Michigan St. has as many (7) top 50 players, no other school in the country has more.

Fickell is doing exactly what he was brought here to do. Talk about restocking the talent. Dang.
Getting a UK flip feels very nice.

Pretty sure he has stated that he would not be signing early.

Not exactly true. They weren't allowed to square off in practice because the Fairfield staff was afraid Vann would hurt him. That was after Vann took out 2 other starting OL in summer camp...

I like it, but, makes me nervous for our o-lineman come spring time.

I heard last night Peters might even be one to watch for UC but that didn’t happen either. As you said nobody is signing anyone with grade issues with the new rules. Leonard Taylor, although his stock has plummeted, is another who I’ve heard has grade questions. I’d be surprised if anyone signed him as well. All in all this is a very good thing IMO. These kids have no choice now on whether or not to take their academics at least somewhat seriously.
And Lewis is going to wait to sign. I had actually heard earlier in the week if he had signed it would have been with UC so this may not be the best news in regards to him.

Here is Metz' hudl highlight tape. Granted, my guess is the competition is like D4 in Ohio, you can at least see how the guy moves as a DL. That is going to be a massive human when he gets into a real weight program. Hope he is an early enrollee.

Any word on how his English is?
And I’m curious why a german who is not just living on an American base ends up playing football. I didn’t even know they had football teams in Germany.

6-9 and 280, long and athletic. If he has any coordination at all, Mick should look at him to come play some roundball.in the winter. Lord knows we will need some big man help next year.

Germany apparently got bit by the football bug from the World League, NFL Europe.and the EFL. I looked at his team's roster and it is not a high school team but looks like a semi-pro and amateur league. He is playing with guys whose ages are all over the board. One of their QBs was born in 1980. http://www.kirchdorf-wildcats.de/en/seniors/roster/
He is 20 years old BTW.

RE: Signing Day
I think we can all agree that this is the best haul ever - at least in terms of rankings, TBD on production - at UC. It would be interesting to see what this staff could do if we didn't have one hand tied behind our back, but even still....this is awesome.
The biggest L we took was, Hawkins. Considering his father's ties, and affinity for the school that one hurts. Other than that....I can't think of a major L on the recruiting trail. Yes, some disappointments, but nothing YUGE.
Looking at our conference, we easily take home the crown for the best class. Both in terms of overall and avg recruit ranking. We can thank Nebraska for that. I'm really impressed with what Tulane has done. They closed quite well, and jumped up in the rankings. For all the fuss about Norvell, I'm thinking he seriously underachieved recruiting wise. Overall almost the entire conference has 80+ avg ratings, which is the best I've seen it.

If you had ever been to Germany you would be aware that most well educated high school students and beyond speech functional English.

I am an Air Force Brat and lived in England in the late 80s. They had/have club teams there. My team played that league's All-Star team my senior year. The Club team was age 16-19 IIRC (the English graduate from secondary school at 16 and then go to University or get a job). A couple of their players were in the military.
They were much bigger and stronger than us across the board but we blew them out because we were just much more advanced as football players and we had better skill position players.
Germany had these club teams as well.

After the JUCO signing it sounds like we only have 1-2 spots left so we will likely get passed a bit in rankings due to not having 25 to be factored in.
I can’t recall a UC class with an average recruit rating over 84. Not that long ago an 84 would be at the top of the class.
I do think this is UC’s best signing day class to date.
