Dick Enberg
RIP...one of the best

Fond memories of watching games when he announced when I was a kid.

Me too! Grew up on him calling 4 o'clock games with Merlin Olsen. (Seemingly always at Mile High)

My favorite memory of Enberg was the 1992 NBA All Star Game. The Professor 04-rock

To think how much the new crowd could have learned from these older gentlemen who actually made watching and listening to some average games fun, .............and they didn't!

They once made the game seem special. Now we can't follow the game for all the unrelated "special" stuff.

It's the difference between art, and those who imitate it. They go through the motions without ever understanding the relationships between all of the parts. Enberg understood that he was an observer of the events, and not the event itself. And therein lies the difference between greatness and annoyance!

RE: Dick Enberg
Enberg was a great guy, and total legend across many sports. UCLA hoops, L.A. Rams, California Angels, Wimbledon, Rose Bowls, Super Bowls, AFC games, NCAA hoops. I'd watch games just to listen to him call them. I also got the baseball package for years because of him calling Padres games.

He came out with weekly podcasts starting in September of this year. Coincidentally i started listening to some just this past Monday. Great interviews with Bill Walton, Calipari, and a "wordsmith" guy from San Diego. Was looking forward to listening to more in the future.

Rest in peace, Dick Enberg. He had an absolutely remarkable career. In addition his broadcasting talents, he also wrote a play entitled COACH, which was based off his former partner and friend, Al McGuire.
