The Idaho, SUU, and Weher St admins have all tated their will be major changes, but message board fools insist that nothing changes.

Yes, the only Big Sky school with not one, but two national Championships in a widely competed sport, a doctoral research institute, largest residential school in the conference, soon to be largest overall school, 3rd highest endowment (5 times EWU, 3 times ISU), located in a growing and populous state (almost twice as large as Idaho, Montana and the Dakotas COMBINED). Yeah, we are far more viable and wanted than UND.

UND Hockey: 250,000 fans paying premium pricing each year for the 8 time champs
NAU CC: zero paying fans

Needless to say, Big Sky presidents are impressed with so many paying customer. If Big Sky Presidents value cross country so much, they will start charging admission.

Those BSC Presidents were so impressed they were thrilled to see UND leave.

Hockey is not a sport played in the BSC. It is a niche sport very few people care about. Accept it, move on, hope your athletic department fixes the issues you have in your main sports.

Again, your so incredibly ignorant of the sport. The Sioux Falls Stampede draws 200,000 a year and it's essentially a development program for UND. None of the BSC school have access to rinks or have money to start a program . South Dakota, at least the kids, are embracing hockey and more and more embrace UND. The Fargo-Moorhead Sharks also draw incredibly well for hockey even though NDSU fans almost invariably disdain it.

These old codger NDSU and SDSU fans will never get it.

I'm actually an NDSU fan who wishes we'd add hockey and play in the WCHA. I love college hockey and think there's a market in F-M for such a team.

WAC:
Azusa Pacific/Humboldt State/Sacramento State/UC-Davis/Cal. Poly
Southern Utah/Dixie State
Northern Arizona/Colorado State Pueblo
West Texas A&M/Tarleton State/UTPB
Big Sky:
Western Oregon/Portland State
Simon Fraser/Central Washington/Eastern Washington
Idaho/Idaho State
Colorado Mesa/Northern Colorado/Weber State
Montana/Montana State

The only credible move-up candidates (those who won't end up in the Southland, anyway) I see out of that whole list:
Azusa
Dixie
MAYBE Colorado Mesa

The chances of one of those moving up to theoretically bail out the WAC at the time the WAC will probably need it is about at, oh, 10%.

Dixie's facility push looks like they have more ambition than the coming RMC move. Azusa at least seems like the program that needs to do something about their position, but there's no real noise. Mesa, if you want the WAC to have some linkage between "east" and "west," that's an interesting market other than for the flailing oil fortunes... and there's no real noise there, either.

More to the point: UND doesn't seem like a school leveraging their hockey success and money to make the "bigger" sports better.

By that... Oregon's traditional claim to fame has been track & field. The program encouraged football players to double-dip, among other things, plus there's the matter of Phil Knight (who did run at UO) making a crap-ton money by selling shoes and eventually turning some of that back into MULTIPLE university programs (academic and athletic), and voila.

So UND has this amazing hockey arena (been there once). That makes money, it just doesn't make enough of a program until you actually apply the money. Instead, it seems the other programs in that Athletic Department are relegated to lower status (and, to put this another way, Alerus Center needs a much bigger capacity in order to get out of FCS). Solve that problem and they're onto something... they're just not there.
