Fitting that the real flagship opens the conference season at home.

Let’s see how young Ethan deals with Tacko Wednesday.

Haha... SMU, Wichita State, Cincinnati, and UConn all claim flagship status. Quad-flagship schools.

Last I checked the current and defending AAC Men’s BasKetball Regular Season
AND Conference Tournament Champeens call Dallas home.

Take either or both if you can.

RE: 12/27 AAC Basketball Game (Opening Day of Conference Play)
Regular Season Conference Champions:
2014 Cincinnati/Louisville
2015 SMU
2016 Temple
2017 SMU

Conference Tournament Champions:
2014 Louisville
2015 SMU
2016 UCONN
2017 SMU

SMU has 2 regular season and 2 conference tournament championships. Cincinnati has qualified for the NCAA tournament all 4 seasons. UCONN won a national championship representing the conference. Until Wichita State does anything as a member of this conference there are only 3 possible flagship schools.

UConn - 114
WSU - 63

Only because WSU can't be any good because they haven't won a national championship and hasn't done anything in conference (even though they haven't played even one game in conference).

Thank you! I am not arguing that Wichita State is not an excellent basketball program. However, as you said, Wichita State has not even played a game in the American Athletic Conference so that is why it cannot be the flagship school for now. If after 2-3 years WSU dominates the conference and represents the conference extremely well in the NCAA tournament then it may very well be the flagship program of this conference.

SMU looked very good in their last game and they are 11 pont favorites. A win by undermanned UCF would be surprising.

Let’s see how young Ethan deals with Tacko Wednesday.

I think the real flagship would open the conference season on the true flagship channel. Whether that’s UCONN or Wichita State is up for debate but I think it effectively removes SMU from consideration.
