U of Louisiana cougars and portrayal of being a football power was a blatantly obvious LSU reference.

They also made reference to ULL's old double directional name Southwestern Louisiana University too

Quite a few people avoid those states on purpose. If you add in Arkansas you probably have the 4 worst states for quality of life.

Louisiana est omnis divisa in partes tres.

I know there are five gulf states but I've been to Texas and Florida so I didn't include those. From the mid-atlantic/west they are just out of the way if not my specific destination and I haven't gone yet.

Texas is so diverse, I hope you have been to north Texas, south Texas, west Texas, east Texas, and Central Texas. If you have missed any of those regions, you haven't really been to Texas.

I've been to 51 states ( if we count Mexican states).

You can say that about every state. Even little ol WV has a lot of diversity in people, geography, politics, industry, etc. Especially, being a north/south border state you have two completely polarized groups of people living in this state. South of Charleston we mostly identify with the south and southern hospitality. There's a band of just country folk, and then mostly northern types and/or DC types way east.

I have not been far south in Texas, but have been East, West, and N panhandle/Oklahoma. Probably mostly enjoyed the scenic w. Texas/New Mexico drives. It's unlike anything we have near here or where I typically travel to.

Maybe some of the less easily triggered La Tech fans can answer the question.

My apologies if you weren't being a smartarse but you're definitely ignorant on what North Central Louisiana looks like. North Central Louisiana is located in the "piney hills" of Louisiana and looks nothing like the scenes from "Waterboy". Do this look like the movie "Waterboy"?

99% of the time if someone outside of Louisiana brings up the movie "Waterboy" to someone from Louisiana their being a smartarse.

I think both pictures show beautiful nature.

RE: Random Question for La Tech Fans..."The Waterboy"
Filming and production[edit]
The Waterboy was mostly filmed in the Central Florida and Orlando area as well as around Daytona Beach, DeLand, Florida, Lakeland, Florida, and surrounding areas.

The Mud Dogs home games were filmed at Spec Martin Stadium in DeLand, Florida, home of the local high school team (the DHS Bulldogs). The classrooms and gym where Bobby takes the GED are part of Stetson University, also located in DeLand. Stetson's Carlton Student Union building is featured in the scene where Bobby is told his mother has been hospitalized.

The scenes involving mama's cabin were shot on Lake Louisa, in Clermont, Florida.

Coach Klein's (Henry Winkler's) office was a stage built inside of the Florida Army National Guard Armory in DeLand, Florida. It is home of Btry B 1st Bn 265th ADA. If one was to look closely, in the background of the practice field scenes, they can see the Armory and some military vehicles.

The initial exterior shot of the University of Louisiana stadium was EverBank Field in Jacksonville; the interior of the stadium is actually the Citrus Bowl in Orlando, Florida. The Citrus Bowl was also the filming location for the climatic Bourbon Bowl game, while the flyover shot at the beginning of the game is of Williams-Brice Stadium at the University of South Carolina in Columbia, South Carolina.

The "medulla oblongata" scene was filmed at Florida Southern College in Lakeland, Florida. The extras in the scene were students at the college, and the scene was shot on campus in Edge Hall.

FWIW - I certainly did not take the original post as a shot against any one or anything. Actually found it surprising that any one did.

Beautiful. I have to admit, as MUther said, and you are right I was ignorant to the overall geography of Louisiana. It is one of the few states I have never been to. I knew La Tech was in Ruston, but have never taken the time to look up where your town sits within the state. Don't really know exactly how far south you have to go for things to get "swampy" either.

As a fan from a state who gets stereotyped probably the most, that's definitely not where I was coming from. It was really just a simple random question that I thought you all would be proud to speak on, honestly. I think it's cool to hear about what parts of our CUSA campuses or fields have been featured in movies...like the UNT poster commented about Necessary Roughness. That's interesting.

There is North LA, Acadiana, and New Orleans. The rest is minute in detail. My grandparents live in Grand Isle and I live in Winnsboro. They are about as different as you can get without leaving the country.

I went to Vidor for a day in 1962. Haven't had a reason to return since then.

I rented out the one of the old Exxon places a few years back. It was huge. Grand Isle is one of my most favorite places in the world, but I wouldn't live there for anything. All the natives are direct decedents of pirates from 350 years ago. You could walk across their gene pool and not even get your socks wet!!
