RE: ACC POWER RANKINGS (BASKETBALL)
GT is a completely different team when it gets consistent double digit offense from at least TWO people other than Lammers and Okogie. So far Jackson, Gueye, Alvarado, and even the odd potluck seems to be up to the task.

Mike Brey said that he was hoping for 9-9 in conference after Colson went down.

Well ... another overtime game between the Irish and Cards. Sloppy at times, but it was exciting. Farrell was killing us in the first half - that dude is deadly ... Coach Padgett made an adjustment and it worked ... but ND found other answers along the way.

That was a gutty win for the Cards ... last time we won at ND, Denny Crum was coaching, and DeJuan Wheat and Clifford Rozier were playing. That's a life time ago.

Losing Colson wrecked the season. Good game, Cards.

RE: ACC POWER RANKINGS (BASKETBALL)
Thanks Terry. It takes losing Colson for Louisville to win in South Bend. You all own us on your home floor, even though the games often go to OT.

Hopefully the Irish stay afloat in league play well enough that they make the tournament. It would be a fairly unusual situation for the committee. More often they are deciding how to include (and/or seed) a team that did well but has lost a star player for the rest of the year. This season, they could decide ND's resume warrants an 11 seed and play-in game for example, but will know Colson has come back to play 2-3 games in late Feb. & early March and will participate in the NCAA. You could end up with some unlucky opponents playing a ND team that is better in March with Colson than their resume would lead you to believe.

Not to mention, if he can make it make for the final few games and the postseason, you have the rapid improvement that teammates such as Geben have been forced to make. A Colson/Geben frontcourt would eat up every rebound they see.

It is far from certain that Colson comes back at all.

Fair enough. That isn't the impression the national media has given but I of course don't read ND message boards or follow the local South Bend media.

If forced, I'd still put money on him coming back closer to the front end of that 6-8 timeline as opposed to not coming back at all.

Virginia Tech beat UNC by 11... 14-6 overall, having a pretty good season... yet still 4 games behind UVA in ACC basketball...

Trust me even with our win yesterday....Cuse is going nowhere. I'm thinking we'll end up in the NIT at best.

Losing 2 scholarships (3 the first year) a year for 5 years had taken its course.
