2017 Bowl Ratings for C-USA..
USM v FSU tops with 2.21 million viewers
FIU v Temple follows with 1.6 million

Indy Bowl beat Heart O' Dallas Bowl in ratings and waaaaaay better in attendance (20,000 @ HOD Bowl)

Anyone know if USM has showed up yet in "Shreves-port"?05-bump

RE: 2017 Bowl Ratings for C-USA..
So, C-USA had the six lowest rated bowl games and the UAB and wkcc games didn't even register.

We have a lot of work to do.

Any bowls on a weekday before Christmas in the middle of the day that are not on a major network will have lousy viewership. That describes a good number of our bowls. For example, if the Bahamas bowl was on Dec. 26th at 7pm on ABC it would be a very highly rated bowl. This has a much to do with time/date/access as it does the teams involved.

Wasnt this the bowl that was selected as the "most unwatchable" in the entire season lineup? Goes to show what can be accomplished. I Bowl folks worked real hard to get the USM-Fla State lineup which has most likely helped them avoid disbanding or moving it elsewhere. Edit: Wonder what the rating would have been had the game been played anytime other than mid day, mid week, poor weather.

We had the 1:00, 5:00 and 8:00 p.m. slots on ESPN on a Saturday - three of the four lowest of the bowl season. The other three were all in primetime.

I actually thought the ratings would have been better than that with Florida State being the National Champion a couple years ago. USM had one of the lowest rated bowl last year, one the lowest rated NO bowls. Insert any CUSA team and the ratings would have been the same.

Goes to show, nobody is thinking about bowl games on Dec. 16th. Until we joined CUSA, I barely watched any until after Christmas. Now I get excited about all the CUSA bowls, but its still weird. Our bowl season is over before it is barely started for most of the country. Still, I would have thought the 5 and 8 pm slots on ESPN would have drawn better. Those were good matchups too.

This is all ESPN. Slowly, they have pushed us out of matchups with power conferences but have added bowl games (all before Christmas) as a means for filling airspace and making some money off of us in the process. It's somewhat depressing.

We were up against the NFL and Boise/Oregon in our timeslot so I don't feel too bad about our rating. And MTSU was right after ours, making them the sixth football game that day. Glad they started bowl season with a bang but maybe overdid the first Saturday.

They have merely bolstered their point that without P5 teams propping us up in the ratings, we simply don't matter to the rest of America.

RE: 2017 Bowl Ratings for C-USA..
Funny how everyone else an excuse for "bad" bowl ratings, but USM NEVER does!03-lmfao

I do know the USM/#7 Houston C-USA Championship game was ratings magic, but of course "because of Houston"....

I do know USM/TCU game when we beat the undefeated #7 Horn Frawgs was highly rated, but of course, "because of TCU"...

Anyway, I'm assuming any N.O. Bowl rating sucks, regardless the teams...and the bowls on prime time with big names are always gonna crush mid week 12 noon games, 3 o'clock games and games that go up against NFL competition.

But USM still led the pack, regardless..04-cheers
