All you older big 10 fans and Pac 10 fans that once had the rose bowl contractually and the northern sportswriters in your hip pocket, how bad does this hurt?
Lmao, but really. How bad are yall chapped?
Still think the playoff is a good idea?
Id like to hear them also, the cfp system has got to start a bunch of bickering amongst the P5ers themselves
I think it’s only a matter of time until they tear themselves apart, I hope the g5ers are already gone with our own playoffs decided on the gridiron

This was the first time an SEC team had won the Rose Bowl since 1946. It is the fourth victory by an SEC team in the Rose Bowl, Alabama and Georgia have both won it twice as SEC members (Alabama also won before the SEC existed).
Before the Rose closed itself off to only the Big 10 and PAC, there was actually a strong history between it and southern teams. During the first 26 years of the modern Rose Bowl era, 1920 - 1946, SEC schools or schools that would be founding members of the SEC played in it 11 times, posting a 6-4-1 record.

And the fans would travel by train and enjoy the whole trip as a vacation. I bet it was fun!

Truth
I never watched the Rise bowl growing up. Laughed at it actually because as a southerner, no one cared.

I had a cross country train trip when I was a kid. Seattle to Chicago and Chicago to Montgomery. It was in the days long before TV was an option on such a trip but the scenery, the dining, and the sleepers, were all a great way to travel. Conversation, card games, and the sites were all the entertainment you needed, and if you needed a break from that you could read a book.
I've flown a good many places, but nothing was ever as relaxing as that.

Hank traveled in cars, drank while he played, drank on the way to where ever it was he was going next, and started all over again when he woke up. Hank Jr. had a van for local travel.
But Hank Sr. stayed with my grandparents when he was within an easy drive of their home. "Stayed" meant he dropped his stuff there, but it didn't mean that was where he was spending the night, although it was close to the town from where his wife would come. But he didn't drink all the time either. We're talking about a guy who was just about college age at the time and just a little bit older before he really made it big. Everybody pretty much loved the guy.
But those were in the days before he made it to the Grand Ole Opry. He didn't play rural venues much after that. He died at 29 years of age and it was tragic and sad.

The Rose Bowl is in our fight song.
