Saw where Marshall just got a commit from a WR out of Oxford, Ms, Jaqaun Webb. My understanding is that he just started playing football his junior and senior HS seasons. Has a ton of upside potential. Very fast and great athlete. I believe he had some Div 1 basketball offers, but not sure of that. Congrats on the commit.

His video looks very raw but it looks like he can get separation from his defender most of the time.

With all of our top WR back next year I would say Webb will redshirt next year, that is unless he just shines in the spring and fall and you just can't keep him on the bench.

We return every WR on the roster except Hyleck Foster.

I think he would need to redshirt next year. He is a raw talent, but from what I have been told, the potential to be a special player is there.

True, but most of these kids in MS dream about playing in the SEC. But I can get being from Oxford and not wanting to play for the home team (Ole Miss, plus their current situation).

I know Marshall has been getting some juco players from MS, but have ya'll signed many HS players from MS?

True, but most of these kids in MS dream about playing in the SEC. But I can get being from Oxford and not wanting to play for the home team (Ole Miss, plus their current situation).

Not really, a few hear and there. Most of our efforts in the south have been GA, SC and FL

Southern Miss offered him if he would sign in the early period. When he wouldn’t we moved on and signed a junior college all American from a community college in Mississippi.

Honestly, now that we are competing for recruits with FAU and FIU picking up more of what we mighta picked up in the past, I look for us to expand efforts back into Al and MS again when we strike out on some in FL we had on the radar. Under Snyder (even if he couldn't coach worth a damn), we did recruit AL regularly, not sure about MS.

One of the last 4 year players I remember from Mississippi we signed was QB Wesley Beardain (Winona, MS, Winona Secondary School, 2005-09) Beardain got caught between Barnard Morris, Mark Cann and Brian Anderson and mainly run the scout team for 4 years.

Before that we had a kid commit to us in 2003 named Cory Garndenhier, he switched his commitment to Mississippi State on signing day. He was caught up in some kind of scandal at Mississippi State and never played a down for them.

We recruited Alabama and Mississippi because we had Larry Keuck and a few other coaches from that area.
