6-6 Ole miss - won 5 FBS games
@ 7-5 Texas A&M - won 6 FBS games
4-8 Arkansas - won 3 FBS games

#20 9-4 LSU - won 8 FBS games
@ #26 9-4 Miss. State - won 8 FBS games
5-6 Mercer - won 0 FBS games

*Didn't win conference championship
*Didn't beat a top 15 team all year

This gets you into the playoff apparently

Look, I absolutely loathe Alabama. I loathe their Board, I loathe many of their fans, I loathe their program, I loathe their risible claims to national championships they never earned. I want them to lose every game they play in.

And I think that Ohio State deserved to go over them. They probably have a bigger gripe than UCF about not being in the playoffs

That being said....they had as many wins as UCF and had three better wins than any one that UCF did before the post season. And if you want to put up Auburn vs Clemson in the mix, Clemson was probably a better win. UCF didn't play one decent road game all year.

BTW, Auburn was pretty damn near invincible at home. Away from Jordan-Hare, they were at best a Top 20 team.

---

That being said, congrats to UCF and if they want to make the case that as an undefeated team, they deserve a share, they're welcome to do so. But I can't agree with them that, given their weak schedule (and one that was predictably weak - unlike Alabama, who scheduled Florida State OOC), that they were somehow robbed.

UCF isn't in the playoffs because their AD scheduled a crap schedule and schedule he knew was going to be a crap schedule. Teams in the G5 have to beat a top team to get consideration. UCF didn't, so they didn't get in the playoffs. Congrats on scheduling FIU, a FCS, Maryland and Georgia Tech OOC. Perhaps a game with Alabama, Auburn, Clemson, Florida State, Virginia Tech, Georgia, LSU, Oklahoma, TCU, USC, Oregon, Washington, Penn State, Michigan, Michigan State, Ohio State, Wisconsin, Oklahoma State, Stanford, or Florida? UCF will probably have to do It as an away payday game, but that's life in the G5.

Welcome to the G5 UCF.

This is the most ignorant post I have ever read.

First off, UCF played and beat 4 teams that either were ranked at time of the game, or were ranked just prior. Memphis twice, USF, and Navy. I know you will of course claim the "AAC is weak" to compensate for your own conference, but it wasn't. We had 3-4 teams ranked in the Top 25 damn near the entire season.

As for purposely scheduling weak OOC- LOL!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! Are you serious? We destroyed a Big 10 team that had wrecked Texas a week prior. We had a Category 5 hurricane come between us and playing GT. It's not our fault that these "P5 programs" can't put teams on the field to match the talent and skill of UCF.

I love how you make it sound like scheduling a Bama or LSU is soooo easy. They won't play us. Period. We've had multiple return games to Orlando bought out recently, including Penn State who completely bailed on their Orlando game.

Our game with Auburn could have easily been a blowout. We had more speed at every position and missed at least another 17 points on open TDs and FGs. To suggest we couldn't play with UGA or Bama is hilariously laughable.

Memphis beat nobody.

uh, we beat a ranked UCLA who went bowling...a ranked Navy who went bowling...Houston and SMU both made bowls as well.

I mean, there's a reason we finished #24/25 in the polls.

I guess we should cancel the series with USA so we can get a real squad on our schedule...don't wanna play a bunch of 'nobodys' after all.[/rollseyes]

You beat two teams that finished with 7 FBS wins. And you struggled in both of those games

You beat two teams that finished with 6 FBS wins.

You played three teams that finished with more than 7 wins. You lost all three of them and they scored 124 points on you in those games. Congrats.

-----

BTW, In 2017, USA actually had a better win than Memphis
In 2016, USA had a better win than Memphis

During that time, USA went 7-15 vs FBS.

See you in Memphis.

I don't think it's an officially recognized NCAA championship determinator-type-thingy, but it was one of the computers the BCS used (and one that I like a lot due to its openness and reliance on wins and losses only, without arbitrary values assigned to specific aspects of a team's performance).

Not a NC giver, but a highly respected ranking. Its to bad really UCF may never have a season like that again in a long time. It is a perfect storm thing for a G5 to be at the elite P5 level. Right coach, right players, little luck and timing.
