*** FCS Championship Game Thread .... James Madison vs North Dakota State
Looking forward to watching this one today at 11 AM Central Time, ESPN2. A high school friend has a son who is on the JMU team so I will be pulling for them.

JMU is the defending national champ, undefeated and ranked #1 basically all year.

NDS of course won the title 5 straight years before JMU knocked them off last year, are 13-1, #2 all year, and has dominated its three playoff games.

A clash of FCS titans!

A clash of the only FCS titans left.

The last 32 seasons have only had 15 champions. And 40% of them have moved up.

I guess I’ll root for JMU just so Georgia Southern’s Title record remains untouched.

Sounds likes FBS also.

12 Teams in the last 20 years. So a little better.

Since the Div 1 split (I-A/I-AA; FBS/FCS) in total there have only been 22 different champions in the lower sub-division. One out of every 3 champions are no longer in the lower sub-division.

Bison dominating 14-3 in 2nd Q.

JMU offense being stifled.

Too bad. Is it better to be a top FCS school or a bottom feeding FBS? I guess every school has to decide for themselves.

Are former FCS champions Marshall, App State, and Western Kentucky bottom feeders?

7 out of the 22 IaaFCS champions thought they'd be better served in IaFBS.

Boise State
UL: Monroe
Georgia Southern
Marshall
WKU
UMass
App State

(Arkansas State and Louisiana Tech both played in the Natty but didn't win and have since moved up)

I would say for the most part they've done okay and are fine with their status in their current pond. I don't see any that would want to go back.

Boise has done great, obviously. The others have had their moments but equally obviously are low on the FBS totem pole.

Sad that this thread has been hijacked by those who for some reason want to denigrate the FCS title game. I admit I got suckered in for a post, my bad.

Let's just stick to the topic, eh? 07-coffee3

Revenge is on the minds of the Bisons. paybacks are a biotch.

Eh, it's a boring game. Lots of 3 and outs, many of which were caused by bad passes or play calls.

Lets hope the second half is more exciting and the officiating is better.

Yes, JMU has gotten the spotlight this year, and their coach and players have done some talking about how they "built their program to beat North Dakota State".

NDST has kept their mouth shut, but apparently that wasn't a sign of submission, it was just biding their time to unleash some fury.

Kind of reminds me of how Saban quietly fumed in his locker room at all the talk about how Clemson was superseding Alabama, and Dabo was superseding him, as the top dogs of college football.

Both programs really need to move up, to bad NDSU doesn't have the money. JMU blew their shot by blowing off the Sun Belt. With CFP payouts, makes no sense for G5 conferences to split the pie further.

Wish we could get both of them in the MAC. We need a shake-up, some infusion of passion. Both of them would probably be like "we ain't playing half our games on Tuesday nights".
