Early Conference Showdown: WKU at ODU
Great game Monarchs! We hit 63% from three. That was Belmont-like and probably off set the 16 TO's ODU forced. The announcers said it was Western's first victory in Norfolk since 1991 (probably at the Scope?).

RE: Early Conference Showdown: WKU at ODU
Well earned win tonight WKU. Your team has good balance, good size, good athleticism, and good shooters. I like how your team can put it on the floor and how they work the ball around offensively.

Overall, ODU just didn't shoot well enough to win tonight and WKU did. I like WKU's chances of making the NCAA Tournament this season if they can maintain the level of play over the next 8 weeks or so that they brought to the court tonight, and think that they will represent the conference well if they do. Good luck till our teams meet again next month.

You think watching Justin Johnson drop 25 on you is hard. Try being a Marshall fan and seeing him do it. Kid is from our backyard (2hrs down the road) has family in the Huntington Tri-State area and was interested in playing close to home and Herrion wouldn't even look at the kid. Idk if we would have gotten him over WKU but it's frustrating to watch him kill us and know we didn't even try. Had D'antoni been hired before Johnson was already headed to WKU I'm sure he would have at least attempted to recruit him. Herrion just wasn't interested in anyone that wasn't from the Northeast playgrounds.

I'm sure MT will feel the same way about Darius going to Western this year. That kid is a smooth scorer. He and Johnson were the two players I was most impressed with.

RE: Early Conference Showdown: WKU at ODU
WKU played really well and they will continue to get better. Scary team. ODU did what they were supposed to do with getting bigs in foul trouble, shut down a key scorer, and it didn't matter. WKU's talent was too much.

From the ODU perspective, the thing that annoyed me the most is we only played 7 men, and one of them very sparingly. I wonder what's going on. We have two decent freshmen, both 3 star recruits, that aren't seeing the floor. I hope we learn later they were sick or something. Otherwise depth is going to be a huge issue for us and we won't stand a chance in Frisco.

I felt that way about Freeman, he was a WKU killer to the extreme....Its fun to finally see a collection of guys who play for each other, care for each other and are having fun....We have a lot of ways to score this season for the first time in a long time, you guys effectively shut down Hollingsworth (had 12 straight games of at least scoring 10) and made it really difficult to score on you...Porter kid is a monster down low, I don't see how anyone in this conference stops that kid...Overall game went about what I expected and it was good for our guys to play a tough team who wants to guard you, will only help us as we go along here...CUSA is very underrated his season as I think we have 4 legit teams who can hang with almost anyone on a given night....Just unreal why we cannot be like the A-10 a few years ago when they had 3 or 4 teams dancing....A-10 is not good this season and seems like we have taken their place...

I can tell you it is far worse than that particularly because Darius would have been a legacy Raider. His dad played at Middle in 80's. We heavily recruited him and he was less than receptive. And his path is just bizarre. He wanted to stay close to home yet wouldn't even give us much of look. Committed to Vandy. Then signed with Tennessee. Transfers to UVA and then somehow ends up at wkcc.

I hope that when we play them MT is up by one and we foul him with 0:00 on the clock and he misses both free throws.

And then the second time we play them I hope he pulls a Chris Weber with MT down by one he gets the ball with time running out and tries to call a timeout that he doesn't have. And we shoot the technical free throws to win it.

Oh and I'm going much easier on him than SpaceRaider would. Don't get him started.

Yea wouldn't count on it, Thompson is as cool as they come...My question is how did he end up at Virginia? That was not a system for him at all, he needs the ball in his hands at all times like we use him...Many of us WKU fans just assumed he would be a 2 guard for us and Bearden would be primary ball handler, we were all wrong about that....This guy is the best PG we have had since OMV and Brazelton and its not close...

I remember hearing from one of your guys that Kermit and Thompson sr didn’t get along at all.

Stansbury and Thompson Sr apparently has a long time relationship also.
