B12 Expansion Model
The Big 12 expands to the Big 16. The newbies gladly take a financial haircut through the remaining term of the existing B12 media deal, while adding 3-6 games of weekly B12 inventory with brands that have proven the ability to grab good TV ratings over the last 3 years.

Immediately launch a network using Texas' and BYU's broadcast facilities and capabilities with instant primary distribution in four top-20 DMAs in Texas and Florida and ten top-50 DMAs nationwide:
-#5 DFW
-#7 Houston
-#13 Tampa
-#18 Orlando
-#30 Salt Lake City
-#33 Kansas City
-#35 Cincinnati
-#39 Austin
-#41 Oklahoma City
-#50 Memphis

Apply counter-pressure against all other P5 conferences:
- v. SEC with UCF, USF, Houston, Cincinnati, WVU, Memphis
- v. B1G with Cincinnati and WVU
- v. ACC with UCF, USF, Cincinnati, WVU
- v. PAC with BYU and keep out of Texas

The only P5 conference with at least TWO teams in each of Texas and Florida.

Recruiting reach expands to Florida and improves in Texas, Ohio, Tennessee, Utah (which is underrated - as many top recruits as Oklahoma and more than Iowa, Kansas, and West Virginia combined).

RE: B12 Expansion Model
Use a modified pod structure for divisional alignment and scheduling to ensure that legacy B12 teams play each other more frequently, while still enabling teams to play each more frequently than is seen in the ACC and SEC scheduling structures.

Pod A: Texas, Texas Tech, Oklahoma, Oklahoma St.
Pod B: Kansas, Kansas St., Iowa St., Memphis
POD C: Baylor, TCU, Houston, BYU
POD D: West Virginia, Cincinnati, USF, UCF

Years 1&2
Division 1 = Pod A + Pod B
Division 2 = Pod C + Pod D
Cross division games among Pods A&C and B&D

Years 3&4
Division 1 = Pod A + Pod C
Division 2 = Pod B + Pod D
Cross division games among Pods A&B and C&D

Years 5&6
Division 1 = Pod A + Pod D
Division 2 = Pod B + Pod C
Cross division games among Pods A&B and C&D

This means that legacy B12 teams (pre-2011) play each other at least 4 times in 6 years.

Similar structure for Olympic sports, or at least stack the schedule so that legacy B12 teams play each other more often.

I think we just went through all of this last year....the Big12 is not expanding. Waste of time

Markets, markets markets---that's so 2010. Move on.
It's all about Brand now which none of us non cartel schools have....except Maybe Boise as evidence of their #17 "way too early" ESPN ranking for the upcoming season. That's the highest "G5" ranking.

Utah doesn't have more top recruits than Iowa. Let alone "Iowa, Kansas and West Virginia" combined. That's just stupid and a lie. And the top recruits out of Utah choose Utah over BYU anyway...
Shameless BYU to the PAC post disguised as something else.

Big XII should expand ... everyone here knows it. The other power conferences know it. Even the conferences they will raid to expand from, know it.

But those clowns haven't shown the ability to get their heads out of their asses to make a decision on 2 candidates, let alone 6.

So ... when they expand, I expect it to be in smaller bites, rather than in one huge massive one.

I think you go one west, one east initially.

Out west, if BYU says no, you go for Boise. Football credibility being what it is.

Out east, you grab Cincy, to build a bridge to WVU, and bring in a market that has shown success in football as a "have" in the Big East, with strong basketball.

Phase 2 ... do you grab the Florida pair in UCF and USF?
... do you go east and west again, maybe with BYU or Colorado State with Memphis or UConn?
... where does a Texas school like Houston fit in?

There are good choices out there ... more than there are spots, really.

Contrary to the writer, no we're not packaged deal. One team has one stuff repeatedly and the other has done nothing and can't get 10k people to show up in their rent-a-stadium. The only reason they'd get invited is if they got caught in the gravity of said hypothetical invite.

Houston will never go to the b12, they would take Rice ,SMU or Texas st or sam Houston or Lamar or some junior college, but never Houston
And as a cougar fan, I don’t want to be associated with the b12 schools
Houston is a lone star within the lone star state
And if that ain’t country, I’ll kiss your ass

I agree only it'll be the only 2 big money, long standing colleges that make sense:
East: Cincy
West: Colorado St

Why does the Big XII even WANT to expand. The smaller conference size actually is helping them in basketball where they have almost no "dregs". In a way, a small conference keeps all members culturally similar, semi-contiguous, and provides quality control.
