Dare we get two in a row? I hope our young team doesn't read too much of their own press clippings this week!! We really need to keep our momentum going into this game.

SMU 31
Nevada 27

My fingers are crossed! Go Ponies!

It's in Dallas, right? Nevada stinks on the road. I'll take the Ponies, putting their new-found confidence (at our expense :crying:) to good use in a close one.

Probably pre-death penalty. Wait, maybe Houston in '94? I don't know either.

Ponies Win Second Straight, 38-20

DALLAS -- Alvin Nnabuife became just the third player in NCAA history to return two fumbles for touchdowns in a game as the SMU Mustangs beat Nevada, 38-20, on Saturday, Nov. 13.

The Mustangs (3-7, 3-4 WAC) led just 10-6 at halftime but quickly took control in the third, exploding for 28 points in the period to win consecutive games for the first time since 2002. It was the first time an SMU squad scored 28 points in a quarter since Sept. 28, 1985, when the Ponies tallied 28 against TCU.

The Wolf Pack (5-5, 3-3) had its three-game winning streak snapped and fell to 0-5 on the road.

Nnabuife had the second-longest fumble return in school history with his 95-yard score on Drew Robinson's fumble in the third quarter for the game's final score. He also scored on a 17-yard return on Trevor Brackett's fumbled kickoff return for a 31-13 SMU lead. The only other players to ever return two fumbles for scores were Tyrone Carter of Minnesota against Syracuse in 1996 and Tony Driver of Notre Dame against Navy in 2000.

Nevada committed four turnovers, including two fumbles by Robinson inside the SMU 20-yard line.

Backup quarterback Jerad Romo, who split time with starter Tony Eckert, led SMU with 79 yards rushing and finished 8-of-13 for 101 yards.

Romo's 13-yard touchdown run gave the Mustangs a 17-13 lead after Nevada had taken the lead on an 18-yard touchdown pass from Jeff Rowe to Nichiren Flowers. Rowe completed 29 of 46 passes for 351 yards and two touchdowns. Flowers had nine catches for 99 yards.

Nevada got inside SMU's 20-yard line four straight times in the second quarter but only scored one field goal. Robinson fumbled at the 15, a fake field goal failed and Nevada failed to stop the clock at the 6-yard line as the second quarter ended.

With the win SMU improves to 6-0 under Bennett when scoring 24 or more points.
