Dawson leaving?
On the main CUSA board there is a thread that a USM coach is leaving for Marshall. The speculation is that it is Dawson as Marshall fired their OC after their bowl game. And a selling point for him going to Marshall (according to the thread) is that his parents as well as his wife are from that area.

That shouldn't be a selling point because everyone from that area, who is capable, tries to leave as soon as possible.

Losing Ito Smith and Korey Robertson probably makes the decision pretty easy too.

Also, the fact that his UK salary is up and we are currently paying him +/-50k. No way we can afford to keep him at the UK salary if that's what he's wanting.

Another point to consider is with the NCAA now allowing a 10th assistant coach we aren't going to have much to offer in raises to Dawson along with we've got to come up with another $75k or so to pay asst #10 unless we decide to stay with 9 assistant coaches.

We weren't paying him $50k because that is all we can afford to pay a OC. His salary would be moved to at least $175k. Marshall was paying Legg $230k, so yes they would pay him more that we would.

I'm aware of that VA...My point was that we certainly can't pay him what UK was if that's what he's going to ask for/expect.

Gotcha. Marshall won't pay him $500k either. For half that, we could get a better OC.

Sam Houston State last year:
Offensive rank 1 - 7,503 yards on offense
Pass Rank 1 - 5,200+ passing yards
Running Rank - 2 3 Backs with 800 or more yards (1200, 980, 820)
Points scored Rank 2 - 606 points scored

FIU Reject, no, he was on Critabals staff his last year there, Marshall also has Alex Mirabal who is the OL coach on that staff. Mirabal has had one of the top 2 OLs in CUSA the last 5 years.

Tim Cramsey is 10x more creative than Dawson will ever be and the preferred candidate.

Never mind us, we’re just salty you didn’t take Dawson.
