While we were the definition of mediocre for Kermit's first nine seasons(never winning more than 19 or fewer than 15, for a total record of 153-126), but after nearly a decade of just barely better than .500 basketball(unfortunately for me, the seven and a half years I lived in Murfreesboro fell in that nine year period), he's won 24 or more games in five of the last six seasons(154-54). Another few years at this rate and he will have been very good for just as long as he was very average. It's been unremarkable turnaround.

I find it remarkable. nm.

Kermit changed with age.

Somewhere along the lines it just clicked for him. Instead of screaming in players' faces he became more of a "father" figure to them.

That, and our ability to hold onto quality assistants. I don't think those guys get enough credit.

Thank God Tyndall left for Morehead.

The whole assistant debate is interesting. Would you prefer “longtime” assistant coaches, or guys that step up the ladder after a couple of years?

Not sure where Kermit finds these SEC bench guys that continue to go off for their 1 season at MTSU...Last season Williams, this season King...How does he do it? Was a great game and privilege of being there....We have to figure out three point shooting at home or we are going to continue to lose more home games this season...

In King's case, Kermit recruited him hard as a top 50 high school recruit when he signed with Memphis but failed. When he decided to leave Memphis and opened up his recruitment (if you will) Kermit tried to get him to come again, but failed a second time as he went to Bama. When the same thing happened at Bama Kermit, unwavering, worked again to convince him to come to MT. Third time's a charm I guess.

What's frustrating is to think about what King could have been with three years at MT (cause he probably would have been in the NBA before the fourth).
