RE: A thread for healing
Louisville, Marquette, and Memphis. Even DePaul, Charlotte, and St Louis. So many great seasons, so many significant games during the CUSA hay days. It was great when UC got the BE invite. Really put UC football on the map. But I’ve always been a hoops fan first and foremost.
The BE was special. It established a rivalry with UConn. Was always my favorite games of those seasons. Early on they were always the ranked team. Been reversed of late, but would surely be great if both were in the rankings together again. Memphis is the last true rivalry left though. Many great games were played before the BE invite. Often Top 10, 25 matchups. Gotta admit, these two are my favs. Glad they’re both in the AAC.
Never felt UC was disadvantaged in Metro/CUSA. UC, UL, Marquette, and Memphis each made the Final Four from there. Don’t have to be in the BE, ACC or B12 to have a great program. UC beat all their best over the years. The AAC now has a great nucleus. Once great teams will be back, while others are showing the definite growth needed. And now the addition of WSU. This conference has the name brands to be premier. It’s really starting this season...and should only go up from here. Should be a great ride!

Yes. Well, no. It wan't properly cooked. But it is daily presented in the market place as acceptable fare. Brad's BBQ in Oakland TN (between me and Memphis). Ribs were black and acrid. This comes from letting the smoke stand stagnant on the meat with no air movement. Basically, you are just eating carcinogens at that point. I informed the staff as soon as I took a couple of bites. They looked at me like I was from outerspace.

Interesting that Kansas has three "nations": the midlands, greater Appalachia and the Far West.
Business Insider: the Nations of the U.S.
I'm glad that Cincinnati is the Queen City of Greater Appalachia.

I am incredulous that "Greater Appalachia" stretches across all of northern Texas, and into New Mexico.

Yeah, that part of the map is just idiotic. Besides, I imagine Texas as its own nation anyway.

Always loved me some mexican bluegrass.
It's true though that a lot of Tejano music is based on the oompah accordian polkas of Texas Germans. Until those bands start singing in Spanish, it would fit right in with polka night at the local VFW hall here in Iowa.

Thanks, will do. And there's always the great Doug Sahm
Texas is a real cultural mutt. Years ago i drove with a New Orleans friend from Houston to San Antonio and picked up a Czech language radio show out of Weimar TX. My friend thought the music was TexMex until they started singing in Czech. Stopped at Bruda's Cafe in Weimar for a taste of jalapeno bratwurst. The Wurstbelt meets Guadalajara, lol
