Speaking of which, what was UC’s signature win in the Final Four year?
They lost to the only two teams with a pulse they played OOC (Indiana and Michigan State). UC completely pissed one of those games away, too.
Perhaps wins against Tennessee or X who did not even make the NCAA field that year?
Although we did lose twice in the regular season to the Great Midwest Champions (DePaul). Those had to be opportunities for signature wins, no?
I think we just have too much time between games.
I'm not going back to double check, but didn't we have some great wins in conference? Wasn't Memphis (i think they might have still been Memphis State then) pretty good at that time? I think they had, Penny Hardaway, and another kid that ended up in the NBA.
Too lazy to go back and fact check, but i seem to recall loving seeing us go heads up with them. Van Excel and Penny were fun to watch. Coulda been the EE season, but pretty sure those were good teams we were playing, and beating.
mc
We beat them 4 times. Twice regular season. Another in league Championship. Last was to get to FF.
Each beating was worse. When it came to League Champ game all you heard was it is hard to beat a team 3 times. NOT! Then it is really hard to beat a beat 4 times. That game was a smashing.
The FHOF coaches strategy was to double Penny as he brought the ball up and force him to pass and then guard him so tight he seldom got the ball back. Worked perfect.

Just keep winning, baby. Wichita State looks VERY beatable right now. If we go into the tournament with 30+ wins, we are getting a great seed.

I will never forget that year. I remember hearing all that noise before the E8 as well. We crushed 'em. Here are the scores from those four games:
75-66 Fifth Third Arena 1/18/92
69-59 The Pyramid 3/7/92
75-63 Chicago Stadium 3/14/92
88-57 Kemper Arena 3/29/92

Memphis State wasn’t ranked. Only Indiana and Michigan State were on that schedule and as was pointed out we spit the bit after big halftime leads and lost both of them. Rest of the OOC was pretty meh.
DePaul won the conference and were a 5 or 6 seed. UC lost both games to them. Got lucky and Depaul lost in the conference semifinals or history could have been quite different. As much as UC had Larry Finch’s number that year, Joey Myers’ first team had Bob Huggins’. They were one of those teams that averaged 80+ a game and could outscore our D. Think they had 2 guys who averaged close to 20 points a game.

David Booth and Stephen Howard, right ? Ugh I hated them. When they beat us at The Shoe that year they were trolling us in the stands as they ran off the court.

He was a bit player on that 91-92 team. I forget the names of their 3-4 big scorers. They could fill it up.
