Elon
So our troops have a game tonight at home. Elon has been a bit all over the place this season but in general has disappointed compared to expectations heading into the season. We are better at home than we are on the road so expect us to play better. We are getting healthier and have our roster at our disposal. Hopefully we use it and see what we truly have this season. I just dont see this as a good opportunity for a victory. Vegas does though.
Vegas: Elon -2
Elon- 91
Drexel- 72

RE: Elon
Okay so... Let's get realistic. There will NOT be a 60 point difference in this game. Elon also will not score over 100. They have not done so all season.
They are a week out of an overtime loss to JMU, and they lost to W&M at home on Saturday.
This team sits on the perimeter much like W&M do but they dont shoot nearly as well.
Roughly 50% of their FGA's are from behind the arc. They also allow their opponents to shoot a lot from the outside as well, something the Dragons should not let themselves get sucked into. They are also a terrible offensive rebounding team, mainly because they play small, and rely heavily on Brian Dawkins to clear the offensive boards. Seibring is not a bad rebounder, but he spends way too much time on the perimeter to be a serious threat.
They have cooled in a lot of ways from where they were in preseason play. They still try to play a deliberate, effective shooting game, but their FT% has dipped considerably.
Containing Sebring will be a key to this game. The Dragons did it well the second time around last season, and hopefully they can repeat that performance. He's also cold right now, and is coming off of two substandard shooting performances by his usual numbers. The obvious choice to cover him is Demir, hopefully the big Turk can stay with him.
Steve Santa Ana has been turning the ball over pretty regularly, and has a team high 19.9% turnover rate for those playing competitive minutes. I'd park Mojica on him and pressure the heck out of him. You just need to hope he doesnt get hot.
The big question is Dainan Swoope. Swoope started the season hot but lately he's been ICE COLD. In his last four games, he's 3 for 27 from three and 7 for 17 from two. You just need to keep him off the line. He's not shooting the ball well, but he's also not turning it over. If Harper can stay in his own head, he could be an effective matchup, mainly because he has a little more size than Lee does.
Anyway, I'm not going to predict some blowout loss for Drexel. The Dragons are playing Elon at the right time. This will be a close game, and I'm going to go ahead and predict a Drexel win because I think they can do it if they piece things together, and as long as they have Ty Myles and Isabell available, both of whom were absent when they lost 90-75 down in North Carolina.

RE: Elon
From what I've seen the last few weeks, I see a team capable of getting blown at against good teams in the CAA. They're 1-7 and lost to the next 3 worst teams in the CAA above Drexel. In order for me to change my tune, the team will have to prove that they are better than their record. While my prediction is exaggerated, they've done nothing to show me that they won't get blown out tonight.

RE: Elon
Well they pulled out a nice win tonight and beat Elon at the DAC for the first time. Maine was on fire tonight with 40 points. He came close to the record of John Rankin's 44 points. I've been around here for 27 seasons and I don't think I've ever seen a Dragon score 40.
Drexel led for just 4:14 of the game, and most of that was at the beginning and end of the game. The biggest key to the game was Drexel had just 6 turnovers.

RE: Elon
A very nice win for sure. Vegas aren't fools. Having tramaine score nearly half of our points is a concern. This team should thrive as a unit better with balance. But if others are struggling and you have a hot hand, you definitely ride it. Enjoy the win, it was a big one. We have one of the top 2 teams in the conference coming to town this weekend. We needed momentum heading into that game.

RE: Elon
Isabell became the seventh player since 2010-2011 to have at least 40 points, 0 fouls, and 0 or 1 turnover. None of the previous six were for or against CAA teams.
