NU stretched their winning streak to 9 in a row by beating Providence 64-59.

Jess Genco behind a program record 9 3-pointers, scored a career-high 31 points.

NU visits Marist on Tuesday and ends the OOC schedule hosting Maine next weekend. Both teams rank ahead of NU is the recent Mid-Major poll.

Shocking that NU has a chance to go undefeated in the OOC schedule ...

RE: NU Women’s hoops
NU dropped a tough hard fought game at Marist 90-84, snapping their 9-game winning streak.

Jess Genco led NU with 30 pts. Genco’s next 3-pointer will be a News program record with 246 career 3’s.

Before the game NU was ranked 10th in the latest Women’s Mid-Major poll.
They still have a good RPI at 35.

NU hosts a good Maine’s team on Saturday, who are ranked 15th in the poll and has a 38 RPI.

RE: NU Women’s hoops
NU completed the non-conference schedule with a solid win over their former America Least foe Maine 63-55 at Cabot Gym.

NU held Maine to just 4 3-pointers. They came into the game 25th in the nation in 3’s per game.

NU finished with a remarkable 10-1 record in OOC games. They open up CAA play at home vs Elon.

NU now has a 28 RPI. This is uncharted territory for this program!

RE: NU Women’s hoops
Nice game by Katie. It's interesting to watch how quickly freshmen adapt to the college game. Katie is one of three freshmen and the other two were highly touted yet it is Katie that has started every game. Kendell has had some nagging injuries snd the guard position is pretty crowded but she hasn't looked that comfortable when she does get minutes. It's like Jess Genco. We are the only one to offer her a scholarship and she starts every game as a freshman playing almost forty minutes a game.

RE: NU Women’s hoops
Not a good weekend for the NU Women’s team as they lost a close 88-83 game at Towson and then got thumped at JMU 84-47.

So NU sits at 2-2 in the CAA and 12-3 overall. They still have a 30 RPI.

NU has another tough one when they host Drexel at Cabot on Friday.

RE: NU Women’s hoops
Jess had an unbelievable career here and we'll miss her. On the plus side, the freshmen have all blossomed. Katie has been a starter since day one and Hill has been good but Kendall, over the last four games, has been averaging about thirty minutes a game and scoring double figures. In one game she had five steals. They can make it interesting with another good incoming class.

Good luck tonight. Should be a helluva contest. You played us very tough in both contests, so I don't take NU lightly. Tough brand of basketball played up there in Boston.

You nailed it.

Next year we’ll have Katie May, Kendall Currence, Alexis Hill, Stella Clark, Ayana Dublin, Shannon Todd, Courtney Redcross and Jasmin Braswell all return.

That’s really good nucleus to build from.

NU behind 22 points from Jess Genco, best UNCW 75-64 in the CAA Quarterfinals.

NU also got 16 points each from Shannon Todd and Alexis Hill.

#6 NU will face their nemesis #2 Drexel Friday at 4pm.

The winner will face either Towson or Hofstra in the finals on Saturday.

If NU can pull the upset, they can definitely beat HU or Towson.

RE: NU Women’s hoops
Hill looked really good tonight. It was nice to see the three freshmen on the court at the same time. Jess got a lot of points but most were foul shots. If she can bounce back from a sub part shooting night........
