I definitely agree with you about music in general. It has been American Idoled (not that I have anything against that show or the Voice). I don't have anything against Justin Timberlake, but he's so vanilla and so boring. The producers know what works and they stick to it. You rarely hear someone unique like Prince or Fleetwood Mac or ELO were.
That first statement sounds like youthful rebellion comments. Kind of like the hot topic back in the day was Metallica sold out when they made a video for One. Jay Z really has kind of fallen off after The Black Album... ect... Back around to the youthful rebellion comment though...everyone is cool until you find out other people think so LOL.
jay z will forever be nas' b!tch
this....this.....this....this.....
......is accurate and factual.
I've never fully understood the love affair with Jay-Z. I thought Nas was always more talented and had better flow. Then again most of my favs are from the Dirty...G-Mob, OutKast, Luda

RE: rap music
I still think the number 1 influence to rap and hip hop all-time is Kanye West. Everything we have today is due to him. He killed gangster rap. What's of the genre today is almost all him. The good and the bad.
With that said, there are still good ones out there. Pusha T, Vince Staples, Tyler the Creator, Chance the Rapper, Kendrick, and Kid Cudi come to mind.

RE: rap music
Kanye is just A Tribe Called Quest combined with RZA
Wu-Tang and their various solo careers and Tribe are the genesis of today's rap. Kayne is just from that lineage.

I can see that a little bit, but Quest and every Wu-Tang member were dethroned by a decade or more of G-Unit, 50 Cent solo, D-Block, and others.
My close #2 is Pharell Williams and his production. How many hits does the man have?

Pharrell is talented no doubt.
As far as 50 and those guys. I always thought them being from a different rap lineage than Wu Tang and The Roots and Tribe Called Quest. Different kingdoms and different thrones.
