Big East basketball
A lot of the conferences are going to a 20 game league schedule.

Since the Big East only has 10 schools they can not do that.

If the Big East wanted to add 1 or 2 schools, who do you think that would be?

The Big East might not need to expand. I'm sure most of the schools in that conference won't have problems with OOC games as they have some rivalries from prior conferences (GT-Syracuse, SHU-Rutgers) that they want to maintain.

Gonzaga could join and put their other sports in the WAC. That would create an eleven team league with 20 conference games, give the BE more exposure in the West and create more later night games.

The Horizon had Notre Dame without mbb for a time. The WAC would possibly go for it if Gonzaga offered a limited mbb package.

The Big XII only has 10 schools too. If it becomes such a big deal im sure those two conferences could easily work out a scheduling agreement.

Yeah, having your closest rival 3000 miles away makes great sense.

Part of their strength is only having 10 schools. There is little waste in that league. Nearly every team is historic/traditional opponents or good.

MiAMI hasn't been in the Big East for years.

Los Angeles is 1200 miles. No matter where Gonzaga goes, they have to travel long distances.

Creighton and DePaul prove you don't have to do crap in the non-conference and still let the conference schedule counterbalance your SOS into respectability. So, there's no incentive for the Big East (and Big XII) to expand for that reason; conference play pads the numbers just fine as is.

The Big East is fishing for a better deal.

I'm sure if the conference expands, their "number one" option is Saint Louis. SLU bridges a gap in geography for Creighton and DePaul and is a good institutional fit. Number two??? That's debatable and the BE would weigh all sorts of options in that.
