5 Mid-Majors Who Could Pull a Coastal

– HOUSTON
The AAC regular and tournament champions return with a hyper amount of experience and hopes of going a step or two further in the post-season after hosting a Regional last season. Coach Todd Whitting says a trip to Omaha is a “When, not if” proposition for the Cougars.

The key is: Health and welfare
Last year, UofH had some injury issues and the psycho-circus that was ace Seth Romero, who was eventually kicked off the team. With smoother sailing, and a ton of experience, this could be UofH’s breakthrough year.

– CONNECTICUT
There is a lot of draftable talent on this year’s Husky squad, the most since 2011. LHP Tim Cate pitched for Team USA and three talents were Cape Cod League All Stars last summer in C Zac Susi, LF John Toppa and LHP P.J. Poulin. Plus, last year’s NCAA snub will be a driving force for this team all season long.

The key is: Not to run out of gas
Coach Jim Penders told me that the 2017 Huskies spent 51 of their first 82 days on the road, and it was a drain. That fatigue contributed to a 9-7 month of May. This time his squad is a more upperclassmen-led, so the hope is they are used to the college grind and have more stamina for a June push.

IIRC that site is run by a Tarhole...so yes, Bizarro World.

I don’t think Sorenson is a Tarheel, I don’t like him though regardless.

Fitt gave us 4 in a regional which is more closely aligned with reality

Actually, basketball is played at this time of the year, but I suspect that an ECU fan would have no knowledge or appreciation of that fact, since real basketball has never actually been seen on that particular campus.

Yeah can’t wait to get out of this conference and see some real teams come to Greenville and play

I'm sure people are playing real ping pong and real dodge ball this time of year too, but was talking more about sports.

Who does everyone have on Friday, and how are you feeling about it?

Pirates are hosting Western Carolina. Played them once in Greenville last year, and narrowly escaped 5-4. Hoping we can take 2 of the 3 games.

Is 2018 the Year that Wichita State Baseball Breaks Through Again?

Short answer: No.

Quote:The Shockers’ road to being a national power once again will continue beyond 2018, but there is plenty of reason to suggest that 2018 might, at the very least, mark a return to postseason contention for the program.

There's that pesky National Power label again...

UC plays a DH at San Diego (against California game 1, then San Diego) and that appears to be two tough opponents for the first day.

San Diego is picked 2nd in the WCC and California is picked 5th in the PAC 12.

They play Cal again on Saturday and finish up against San Diego on Sunday.

Well a national championship and not missing the ncaa's for 20 straight years will get a program mentioned that way. Now if they said that about ORU baseball we'd all laugh. . . I mean that's like saying WSU is a national power in basketball.

Shocker basketball, the ORU baseball.

5/10

You would have gotten 6/10 but I had to deduct a point for putting the board in grave danger of receiving my wall-o-text again referencing Wichita State Basketball's voluminous National Power media references.

You need to stick to numbers, analytics, and metrics. Your analogies suck.

Damn, you're right. ORU baseball is way better than WSU basketball. I honestly insulted them.

WSU basketball:
Since 2006 6 of 12 years in the NCAA
Since 1998 6 of 20 years in the NCAA, largest sreak 5
Conference championship since 1998, 6

ORU baseball:
Since 2006 10 of 12 years in the NCAA
Since 1998 18 of 20 years in the NCAA, longest streak 15
Conference championships since 1998, 17.

My bad, didn't mean to get shocker fans hopes up. You're clearly not on ORU baseballs level.

You literally just attempted to make a statistical correlation between the MVC in basketball and the Summit conference in baseball. Have you been drinking all afternoon? You're way off the blacktop brother.

RE: AAC baseball preview for 2018
A fun side fact: Half the Summit league resides in Canada. I suspect they play some sort of hybrid baseball/hockey off-shoot. Tulsa is basically Miami, FL. to most of that league... In 2017 the Summit league was rated 29th in conference RPI. That's 3 spots from dead last in the nation. ORU is the NY Yankees of the Summit - which isn't saying much...
