The team has no soul & no leadership. Norton isn't the same player post-ACL injury. Ehsan is proving that he's a deer in the headlights. Has no clue what he's doing. Our issues are all mental, but not sure I see it getting corrected.

UAB basketball is a sad state of affairs right now. It's depressing how far we've fallen.

Also, don't forget fans prefer to sit at home trashing the team and the coach on message boards.

Gotta win home games when you are ahead by 11 in the second half...

I can see how that would be frustrating, but you guys were shooting like 75% at the time and thats never going to last vs. anyone.

To me it came down to ODU made the shots/plays when it counted so a tip of the hat to them...congrats. Here's a few stats that tell the story

FG % for USM (USM had a 39-30 halftime lead and we made our first shot in 2nd half to go up 41-30)
1st half - 72% (16 of 22)
2nd half - 31% (9 of 29)

Fouls committed by USM
1st half - 2
2nd half - 9 (USM had 2 fouls less than 70 seconds into 2nd half)

Free throws by ODU
1st half - 1 of 4
2nd half - 11 of 13

Free throws by USM (entire game)
7 of 13

Yep, but if we win out (easier said than done) we will be 16 or 17 heading into the conference tournament.

RE: Feb 8 and 10 basketball games
Speaking of winning out here we are again with a team that couldn't get out of its own way in the non-conference and now all of sudden finds itself in the top quadrant of the conference standings. Last year it was UTEP. That loss cost us an at-large bid had we not won the conference tournament.

We have one of these teams every year. This year it looks like North Texas is that team. They are only six points away from being 10-1 in the league.

This game scares me. A home loss to UNT would destroy our NCAA Tournament standing. And there is a good chance it happens.

Yeah, we have no way of drawing fouls without Stith and Porter (who combined for 5 fouls in the first half)

I wonder how Tennessee State beating Belmont last night affected our RPI ?

Good or bad or wash ?

I was surprised that when Western lost to UTSA it seemed to give us a bump, and the entire conference a bump.

Wash.

UTSA beating wkcc hurt us not helped us. On several fronts.

1. We play wkcc twice and UTSA only once. So, we want wkcc to win that game for our RPI purposes.

2. We also want to make sure they stay in the top 50. Even thought that's not a thing anymore there is still psychology to that. Further, if they would have continued playing like they were earlier they could have potentially given us an additional Tier 1 game. Now the best we can hope for is one. So even if we beat them in the Boro that will be considered a Tier 2 win.

I mentioned after non-conference that we would climb to 13 or 14th as a league.

We are now 14, and I believe that is where we are going to settle.

That is targeting a college basketball player for PLAYING THE GAME. That ref should be suspended or fired. No excuse for that immaturity.

I've been telling you guys that CUSA is a sad conference and is a bad joke nationally......this is just more proof. Great headline!!

http://collegebasketball.nbcsports.com/2...asketball/

This is TARGETING A PLAYER by a CUSA official. Boykins received TWO technical fouls against Charlotte when they were nothing more than great, clean plays by Boykins.

Quote:"That is absolutely abysmal, and whoever the official is that made that call should no longer be allowed to work in college sports. I’m fine if taunting is called a technical. There is nothing about that play that can even remotely be considered a taunt.

Frankly, it is embarrassing for Conference USA that they allow that crew to work for them." -- Announcer Jason Capel

But it gets worse.

Because Boykins received his first technical on this play, when he says “gimme that s***” after blocking a shot:

RE: Feb 8 and 10 basketball games
Basketball does not have conference-specific referees. This is an indictment on the official not the league. There are all other sorts of reasons why this league is a joke - namely the leadership.

That being said, because most schools are playing on Saturday the "good officials" get sent to the games involving the power programs. And the rest get sent to the less fortunate conferences. Sometimes we get good crews on Thursdays, because most power conferences don't play on that day, but contrast is stark on Saturdays.

That fact that our administration is not doing more concerning this incident is very concerning
