While it is a nice resume, it does jump out that during his last two stints at LB coach, he was demoted to off the field roles.

Welcome Coach Belin to JMU. BTW brother of UD Defensive Line Coach Levern Belin.

Underwhelming to me. Has had some nice stops but I don’t see where he has moved up and stayed there. He now drops back to FCS. It’s an LB coach so not going to over analyze the hire.

To be fair, it sounds like he knew Vanderbilt was a one year deal going in. The prior LB coach returned after a year of cancer treatment and was given his job back. Doesn't sound like a situation that was due to job performance.

He's coached a number of players at LB who have been all star caliber (all ACC, all SEC, and NFL defensive rookie of the year). Houston has a solid hiring record, and I trust after a multiday team interview, he made a great decision.

In addition, some might question why Belin would move down, but what a great way to turn your resume into a winning document and with good decisions, a little patience, he could ride MH's coattail right back up the ladder.

IMO I think its trending that FBS HC's are trying to get younger at positions for recruiting/player personnel purposes. Seems like a good addition.
