For those of you who partake in Lent. What you plan on giving up? I plan on giving up using my favorite word that begins with 'F'. That's right no more of me saying "froo froo". I'm focking kidding.

Didn't peg you for a big kale fan. Think you'll have a tough time giving it up?

I am going to do without red meat. Also, like you, will do my best to do no swearing. Also, when the opportunity presents itself, to do a good deed for a stranger when possible.

RE: OT: Lent
without inferring that i practice my denomination of Protestantism as i should on any other occasion, lent is not a requirement but is often given some perfunctory observance. maybe if someone comes up with something interesting to give up i will try too.

It will be a long hard pull. I mean, what other garnish can I use on my plate now?

I thought about giving up healthy eating overall, but that was too much.

And, yes, I'm Catholic.

RE: OT: Lent
My wife asked me last night what I was giving up. I told her I was giving up freebasing cocaine.

I said this because we never really did the whole giving up stuff for Lent when I was growing up so I still don't. She knows this yet feels compelled to ask me every single year.

I had someone at Mass last Sunday ask me what I was giving up for lent. I said bungee jumping. He said good and started to walk off, then turned and said I was really sacrificing this year.

I don't practice Lent as a Southern Baptist but I respect anyone who does. I have fasted from time-to-time to observe a voluntary church prayer focus. My wife and daughter went on a missions trip to Nicaragua this past summer and it is just unreal how many in the world live compared to us. Makes me appreciate all the more this great country.
