He's still getting over a back injury. He also got banged up tonight (maybe a groin deal?). Both he and Cashaw were banged up a bit in the physical 2nd half.
He looked perfectly healthy to me. He's our only true big man and has been underutilized in my opinion
Meyer looked good at times last night. He had a nice block and some good rebounds in the second half. But, too often, he looks like he is playing with mittens on his hands; blowing plays by fumbling good passes.

Nice game by Osborne (and Cashaw). Elmore is a very nice player for Marshall (and he wasn't even their leading scorer). I still have my doubts he's an NBA talent though.
Elmore reminded me of Matthew Dellavedova, the Bucks guard from St Mary’s. Doesn’t have the “physical look of an NBA player, but hits 3’s, drives the ball, and a great assist man.

RE: Owls vs Marshall
There were a few times last night when Meyer looked like he was in pain, in particular in the 2nd half when he was waiting for a foul shot by Connor Cashaw. It looked like he was hiding his pained facial expression to make sure that his coaches could not see him and take him out of the game. This was before his big block a the other end of the court.
Osborne did most of his damage in the first half, but he only had one foul the entire game, despite fighting successfully for 13 rebounds. He is really learning and improving his game. Earlier in the season he was limited because of his propensity to foul. Overall Rice really attacked the basket well and exposed Marshall's defensive weakness down in the post at times. Osborne's inside out game also made a big difference for most of the contest but the lack of ability to shut down Burks and Elmore's 3-point shooting proved fatal. Burks was downright deadly from 3 point land and his quickness made him almost impossible to stop.
Ako Adams looked like he was willing to take charge in the last 6 minutes to keep the game winnable but he missed his final 4 shots and turned the ball over once to help seal the deal for the Heard. It sounds like a criticism, but I liked how he tried to make a difference, even thought he did not succeed. That level of leadership has been missing from the team during these losses. It feels like no one has stepped up this season during crunch time.
I am not very hopeful for a win Saturday against a pretty good Western Kentucky squad, but I am looking forward to seeing their Freshman guard Taveion Hollingsworth. He and teammate Justin Johnson are both shooting over 40% from 3-point range, while Hollingsworth just scored 30 points, including going 14-14 from the charity stripe against North Texas this week. Rice hast to step up their perimeter defense or they will likely get buried again by this level of sharp-shooting.

Meyer was kicked in a sensitive area. We wondered whether he would start wearing a cup in subsequent games.
