Is this the same player that hit like 24 of 28 in the 3 point shooting contest at Memphis Madness? I believe he was the one... #1

I know , I know, it is not the game. But you have to hit them in practice first right?

I don't think he will ever be a great shooter unless he changes that stroke.

Yep.

Wildly inconsistent form. Too much leg kick.

...and again a cautionary note for expectations of frosh.

Kids average 20+ ppg in high school and are lucky to average 6 or 7 points a game. (especially those rated 100ish or lower).

So when you think Vanover (8ppg and 6rpg) or Moss (7ppg and 6 apg) will come into Memphis next year and make ANY sort of contribution you are effectively playing the lottery.

Nickel was a 15/8/6 kid as senior. Enoh was a 7 and 10 kid.

Heck, Evan Olds and Alex Moffatt each averaged 12 ppg in high school.

Definitely more tentative than I was expecting from the son of a pro. Maybe he'll come into his own soon.

We once had a guy who "made 'em in practice", never seemed to materialize during a game tho.

He’s been on a hot streak lately for the Maine red claws of the G league.

I hope he finds his shot, because it appears that’s all he has. Really poor with the ball, never penetrates , drive and diss, or makes assists. He’s disappointed me the most of all the newcomers. A one trick pony, and that one is outside shot which is iffy at best. Hopefully he figures it out.

...I'm worried about that. He's already been tabbed the "three point specialist" so mentally that's all he will strive to be. He attempts over 2/3rds of all his shot from beyond the arc.

He reminds me of Anthony Rice, who was pressed into action too early as a 3pt shooter and never escaped that shadow and never grew into a well rounded player.

Nah, his Dad taught him a nice floater. The 3 thing just became the book on him here because we were in such dire need of an outside shooter. I think he's going to make a nice addition to the team. Star? Probably not, but he'll be nice to have around in a couple of years.

Moss and Vanover play at a higher level than the average high school. That should be considered.

Moss was the leading scorer at East for three years. He didn't become a worst player because he went to a basketball factory.
