Long before Calipari, there was Gene Bartow, There was Dana Kirk, there was Larry Finch (prior to him getting sick). So it's not just the Calipari years. It amazes me how some use this analogy just to make their point. As a Tiger fan, and yes, I'm a season ticket holder and yes I go to the games (Tickets too expensive not to). Me and many, many others (Tiger fans) do expect to get back to the level of Tiger basketball these coaches had us at. The Tubby hire was a major big time mistake with no hope for the future, go no farther than to look at our recruiting, or should I say lack of. And for the record, I'm a football first Tiger fan who just happens to also love Tiger basketball, who yes, wants it to get back to what we as Tiger fans expect our Tiger basketball program to be. In other words, being relevant in the world of college basketball, which currently we're not.

I disagree. I’m confident the money is there. But it may not come to needing money. It’s possible Tubby leaves for another job because, he’s not happy here.

The money is not there. And the admin is not even going to boosters to ask. That is a year down the line. And it might not be there then either. Big boosters are tapped out, not bailing us out of this problem when football is what matters. Believe what you want though.

And if the hope is Tubby gets offered another job, which is always possible, one should hope for him to win every game on the schedule, win the AAC tourney, and make the dance.

You can hope he resigns (won't happen either) or hope he gets another job (possible), but Memphis isn't cutting bait this year.

And in the mean time, top level recruits (local and national) will continue to say no. And in the mean time, Tiger fans will continue to walk away (look at loss of TSF donations, drop in season tix and current game attendance) and totally stop caring, this is called apathy. When did anyone ever call Pookie a top recruit? The big schools in Florida didn't even recruit him. Iverson had fallen way off, big schools had all backed off, which is why we got him.

Pookie was a 4* #80 according to 247.

People are arguing left and right about a kid on the recruiting board right now and fans are salivating and obessing about getting him, and he's #126.
Iverson was #36 and Charlie Moore #71.

I'd say a top recruit is top 100. Woodard would have been a "top recruit." Same for Tyger Campbell or Khavon Moore.

It’s not a matter of me believing what I want. I have been told that the money is there. Of course I can’t say anything further on that.

This is where I tap out, because all we’re going to do from here is go back and forth and I would rather not. It’s no fun. Maybe someone else will step in and argue with you. I don’t have the time and desire. We will see what happens when the season ends.
