I think it's totally a who knows? Football is an increasingly tough game and it's getting to be like it is with pitchers where it's not really an "if" but "when" will he blow his arm out (or have a problem with his whatever wrt football). But like the pitcher situation, sometimes we see guys come back as good or even better than new and not have any problems for quite a few years after that. On the other hand, sometimes we see one injury is followed by another and another etc. Eifert seems to be tracking along the latter unfortunately, but I think fans are often too quick to make assumptions about players being injury-prone or whatnot. So where does Eifert fit in the spectrum? Who knows? But he's proven to be a huge weapon when healthy (18 TDs in has last 21 games iirc) and he claims he feels the best he's ever felt right now. He's worth taking a shot on imo if the money's reasonable as it seems to be.

Team friendly deal hoping he stays healthy. Bengals need all the weapons they can get. I like it.

Bengals signed Preston Brown. Linebacker was a huge area of need for this team. If Burfict stays on the field along side Preston Brown that is a huge upgrade for this team. Bengals have made a couple nice moves so far this offseason. http://profootballtalk.nbcsports.com/201...ton-brown/

Trade talk seemed to die and now we may know why as it appears he failed a drug test for PEDs and faces a 4 game suspension. It also sounds like the Bengals wrote his contract in a fashion that would make it easy to get out of after this if they want to. But...

Quote:To his credit, Burfict will appeal this latest run-in with the NFL on the basis is was prescribed medication for pain from a concussion and shoulder injuries, per ESPN’s Katherine Terrell, not to mention the fact he was done playing for the season anyway:

Biggest off season move for the Bengals so far this year has to be Russel Bodine signing with the Bills today! I couldn't be happier!

RE: bengals '18
so it's pretty certain we're drafting a center and sticking with andy. like marky mark said though, if lamar is available in the second round, take him

Bengals reportedly made Bodine a multi-year offer but it didn't include a lot of guaranteed money so he went with the Bills' offer. I read an article suggesting the Bengals ought to give Cedric a shot at center now. He doesn't fit the physical prototype exactly, but there have been some guys not too far different from him that have been very successful at the position. Worth a try imo, but we won't know anything about that possibility until well after the draft so yeah I suspect an early pick (probably on day 1 or day 2) to be a center.

What's sad is that the Bengals, with a decent (not great, just decent) O-line, are almost certainly a playoff team. Especially with the Preston Brown and Eifert signings.

Think they will be ok. Daniels from Iowa a center will be first choice and if not there they will go with Hernandez or McGlinchey. Either way line will be better with Bodine gone. Hopkins or Johnson slide into center.

Bengals still keeping tabs on free agents as they just had SF free agent safety Eric Reid in for a visit.

I know these are alleged incidents but not drafting Foster still appears to have been a good move:

Only one chance to keep the night/primetime embarrassment streak alive. Depending on what kind of team Cleveland fields this year, the final 4 games could get ugly.
