The NCAA are the schools. They created it. They made the rules for it. They set the structure. They can change the rules or structure at any time.
If they go form a new organization it will still be them.

There will be a split. One of the issues is that a DIII school with an enrollment of 500, that doesn't play football, gets a vote in the what happens at a school with 40,000 students. Some of these issues have been addressed but there are many more.

It's more of an issue that Division I schools that operate on a shoestring and play multiple "buy games" each year to finance their program are voting on rules that apply to schools whose basketball teams are flush with cash and regularly feature NBA lottery picks, and vice versa. And there are similar disparities in almost every D-I sport including FBS football. They are constantly bumping up against the limitations of the "one size fits all" approach.

That really hasn't been true since the early 1970's with the adoption of the federated system.

Permanent ban bet that 20-30 top programs DON’T lose their coaches and AD’s. Not going to happen not matter their guilt.
Jmo but the NBA is a reflection of the decline in society. I say this loving the dunk champion.
