I still think the Tigers will easily handle that OOC schedule if just with a heavy dose of Henderson and Taylor. OL must improve this season.
Go Tigers!!!
??????
Do you mean he wont be the return guy or that you're not counting on him taking any to the house?
None of that. I thought he was one of our seniors. He'll be back returning this year.

RE: Football schedule released
First off, the ooc sucks azz. No other way to put it. No one gives a sh*t about playing mercer, ga state or south alabama. It's a mistake to play three teams at their level. Period. The first game will be ok, because tiger fans always come out strong in the first game (as long as the weather is perfect). But the other two games could result in low attendance especially if tigers lose at navy which will be a very real possibility. The only real good games at home this year are ucf and houston.
On offense, the tigers lost the qb and top two receivers. I'm expecting some dropoff but how much depends on how good the qb is and who will step up among the receivers. I expect pollard to play a big role there. If sam craft is returning and stays healthy, it will huge for the tigers.
On defense and let's admit that was a struggle last year, we lost the best pass rusher, several good linebackers and two valuable dbs. I expect LB bryce huff to step up and be a leader for the tiger defense. I expect the tigers to be ok replacing the talent at all positions except for the secondary. Tigers have a lot of young guys but they gotta step up. Tigers might be about the same as last year on defense.
Tigers lost both punters. Freshman punter coming in. It's gonna be hard to snap the ball over his head since he is 6'5".
I could see us losing 3-5 games depending on how the newer tigers respond to the challenge.
Ucf could go undefeated again and not make the 4 team playoff again. Until their quarterback graduates or moves on, i expect them to remain the favorites for the american conference championship. And honestly, winning conference championships is the best we can do.

RE: Football schedule released
I didn't know Mercer had a football team until I saw this year's schedule.
Then, I noticed that Alabama played them last fall.
Here's a quote from Tidesports.com regarding the game and the attendance:
Quote:No. 1 Alabama defeated Mercer, 56-0, at Bryant-Denny Stadium on Saturday in front of 101,821 people, which is by no means an accurate attendance count. It was definitely not a full house.
The crowd looked to be about 75 - 80% full.
I wonder how many will be at the Liberty Bowl.

RE: Football schedule released
My initial reaction to the schedule was very blah, especially the home schedule. But the Tiger Football Podcast made me think this schedule may work out to our advantage beyond just the games. With losing such great players, it allows the team to open with an easier schedule, which in turn, allows more time for the squads to gel and get on the same page before the conference schedule kicks in. The position of the Navy game, in week2, still sucks though.

Don’t worry, we’ve got games with ArkState and UT Martin lined up in the future! I just wish we could get Jax State and Tenn State on the schedule.

Missouri aint no slouch...
And when you are an outsider that is good it is tough to get home and homes against the big boys. It is what it is.

RE: Football schedule released
I like having seven home games with five of the seven on Saturday. I think Saturday games will aid attendance.

Our new QB will need as many early “easy “ opponents as he can get.
