Crean looks a little bit like a dark haired Dwight Schrute

Dude knows basketball. You can tell he knows the game by how he explains and breaks things down.

The dude has no eyebrows though. It looks weird.

He couldn't win at Indiana. No thanks.

He's the reason Kentucky won't play Indiana anymore.
The Big 10 is a decent conference...the years he was coaching he had to go up against the likes of Michigan and Wisconsin...and Ohio State teams

Well....

Kentucky players were assaulted in Bloomington during the 2011 court storming. Darius Miller was kicked in the balls and Terrence Jones was punched. You guys know Cal, he won't allow guys to come at his players.

Cal told Crean that we wouldn't play in Bloomington anymore. We offered a neutral series, just like it used to be, and they refused and spun the story to try and take the high ground. It hurts Indiana more than UK. We definitely don't need them, even though I'd like to find a way to get the game back. Indiana wants the game renewed but still doesn't understand that it will be on our terms only. When you haven't won a title since the Berlin wall you lose your right to negotiate. Indiana fans are a different bunch.

Having said that, I think Cream would be worth the try. He might have great success in the AAC.

I’m wondering why the Hurley from URI has not moved on. Just from memory ,he did a good job. But Crean wolud definitely be worth a look if the job opens. Have serious doubts now.

True. But no one has won big at Indiana since Bob Knight. Mike Davis had one good year with Knights players and then flames out. Kelvin Sampson was incredibly mediocre and cheated his butt off. I’m not saying Crean did better, I’m just saying maybe that job isn’t what it used to be.

Maybe the same could be said for Memphis also.

If we make a run at Tom Crean, I am done with basketball. Only an idiot would choose him.

They are the same type of idiots that would pick Crean or Tubby.

The eyebrow-less look is bad. Matta has no lips, so he's out, too.

Dan Majerle has both, and needs to come to Memphis.

I could see him coaching at UConn next season...that would be a good fit.

Mark Gottfried or Andy Kennedy to East Carolina.

Forbes takes the Mississippi job.

I’m interested to see how many jobs come open due to the FBI/NCAA stuff...

Anyone ever consider a guy like Kenny Payne? He could already be a head coach if he wanted to (makes a lot at UK), and is one of the best recruiters in the nation. He's got a great feel for people.

Tom Crean: "The fan base of Memphis...when that place is rollin', it is hard to even remotely trick yourself into believing that as the opponent you're gonna come out of there with a win."
He'd do great here. Too expensive, though. Flamed out at Indiana due to an administration that was openly rooting against him. The fans turned their backs on him when he couldn't solve the 2-3 against Syracuse in 2013. One of the worst games I've ever seen.
I'm biased because I was around him for 6 years. But I think it's a moot point either way.

Crean's resume looks way better than it should because of one player...Dwayne Wade. Hire him and he'll make Tubby Smith look like Coach K.

RE: Tom Crean
4 trips to the Sweet 16 in 20 years. 9 NCAA Tournament bids in 20 years, just 4 at Indiana with no trips beyond the Sweet 16. 9 seasons with 20 wins or more, just 7 with more than 20 wins.

As noted, it's not hard to win at Indiana. If he couldn't win there, where can he win? He didn't even really win at Marquette except when he had DWade, otherwise, he averaged to go 17-13 in the 4 other years with 0 NCAA bids. He owes all of his financial well being and fame to DWade.
